I've been following that game for a while now. It doesn't look too bad. I don't know if it will compete with Gal Civ 2 or not, but it does look as if it could be a contender.

It looks Average to me, I won't be buying it, But what I would like to see is more epic space battles that the old Moo2 game had, I liked customizing my ships, and using the weapons in 2d space combat, turn based - I hate how its all gone pause play, action now. I like Galactic Civilization, I just wish the combat in some of these new games brought back the fun of the old school turn-based combat systems, like moo2, mom, or x-com, I loved spending the time playing those battles.

Hey Thanks I have a huge Tattoo of Raistlin on my right arm shoulder to elbow {Sadly he is old enough to get into bars by himself now} . I still reread the first 6 novels and soul forge and thier prequel story.

The main reason i am posting is that i emailed Bob Smith Managing Director, Ntronium Games www.ntronium.com
I asked about the game and any chance of being on impulse.
"Thanks for the interest and very much hope it will be available there at launch."

You should post a pic of it on my other thread here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/365261

Looks interesting, never heard of it until now.  A shame the only games that get attention these days are ones with huge production values.

I loved MOO2 and tried to like GalCiv2, but I just couldn't get into it for some reaon.  Will have to keep an eye on this.

I really miss my 4x games.

What about Galciv2?

Yeah, I like Gav Civ 2 a lot but it just never caught me as much as Moo or Moo2.  The main reasons I think was the technology (no surprises, no interesting weapons, etc), races (they just weren't very memorable or that different) and space battles (automated).  Still the best since those games but still not as good and not something that keeps drawing me back like those did.

The game is not a threat to Sins but to my wallet!

I am looking forward to this game a lot. I just hope they include some kind of diplomatic win which is what i prefer in MOO 1 & 2. Unfortunately there's no forum yet.

Cheers

PS: cheers Martok

Cheers, Anguille.  Good to see you popping your head in here again.  B)

I too would really like to see a diplomatic victory option.  Having to conquer the bloody map does get old sometimes.

People like you make me feel bad for not had played those games (I'm actually "new" to TBS games). Each time I read one of those comments I feel like I missed something really important and interesting. :/

Sorry, I had to say it.

Shh Fidel!  Just wait, and I'm sure someone, somewhere, will fix it!

You can even tell who broke it by where the table breaks down.

well, yeah...  but the next page will fix it!

I thought that sounded familiar... I'm guessing its basically the sequel to Armada 2525 (haven't played that in a long time!) since he has it listed under main titles he worked on.

I don't think it can compete with Sins, or Galciv2, because they are really an indie developer and if they go to indie root, then unless they have some awesome marketing power, it will not be well know.  Unlike Sins and Galciv2.

True, advertising sells more than  quality.

Anyway, in terms of turn based 4x strategy it's far more fun than GalCiv2 ... but that's just my opinion - I could never warm myself for that game.

If Armada 2526 is successful (whatever the quality of this game will be - we can't know that now), it will give GalCiv2 Ulitmate Edition's sales numbers a push and that can't be bad for GalCiv3.

As Brad himself has pointed out, competition is a good thing :D

Personally, I'm wishing the game good luck!

If it is real time it oculd possibly compete for my attention. And possibly moddable

The combat is in real-time, the empire management is turn-based.  Think Total War, but set in space (which is not surprising, given Bob Smith worked on the first four TW games).

and according to Bob modding is planned. The game files certainly look editable. :)

Finally some space 4X turn based multiplayer game since MoO, which doesnt look lame. Looking forward to it! ( Actually, I wouldnt mind if it would be just enhanced GalCiv 2 ripoff with multiplayer  that would be enough for me..)
