CPU Cooling: Freezer 7 Pro, is it enough for q9550?

I have an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro on a core 2 quad q6700, it is OCed to 3.33ghz and it stays fairly cool.

Will the Cooler be enough for a q9550 at stock? and what about OCed to ~3.4ghz?

I can't find anything that would say no, but i can't find anything that would say yes either.

Thanks in advance

It will be fine.

Reducing the voltage abit from the auto setting overclocked to 400 Hz FSB i can keep it under 60 C with load with the alpine 7.

Was a bit unstable though but your heat sink will be about 40 percent better so you could get a decent voltage though it.

I am using one on an oc'ed to 3.8ghz q9550 w 8gb ddr2 1066 kingston, and in an hour long occt test temps hit a peak of 59 celsius and the system is stable(btwbthe ambient temp was 22 C)

So you have a freezer 7? That's good to know.

I was thinking about getting a Xigmatek S1283, but i won't fit in my current case.

I have also used a xigmatek cooler (achilles s1284c) but it was significantly WORSE than an old coolermaster geminii in that temps on an oced q6600 to 2.8ghz PASSED 80c(and switched off) while the geminii only hits 60c under test with occt.

I put a CoolerMaster V-8 on mine and I've yet to see the temps in the 60s C

(Q9550 actually comes with a decent Intel cooler)

Alright, thanks guys.

Hopefully the rig will look like this pretty soon:

q9550

Evga 790i mobo

GeForce Gtx 275

4 gb of DDR3 @ 1600mhz (7-7-7-18)

650 watt PSU

and a 9800gtx+ for PhysX.

The only parts I'm missing are 2gb of RAM, the q9550, and the gtx 275, but xmas presents to yourself are the best...
