Movies during Lunch at Stardock

This is an idea which I believe will provide inspiration and motivation for the Stardock developers.  Basically during the lunch hour Stardock will play a fantasy movie for the staff.  Since hands will be busy with their lunch their eyes can be watching one of many great fantasy movies.  Why stare at the soda machine when your eyes could be watching a fantasy movie.  The staff could also vote on which fantasy movies they wish to watch.  Naturally a 2hr movie will be broken into two days and a 3hr movie into three days. 

Even if you've already seen a great movie... watching a second time might recognize some fantasy elements otherwise missed/forgotten.  Anyways I hope this makes your lunches more fun as well as inspirational.

I'm sure many on the forums will provide suggestions for great fantasy movies, but here's a few  I recommend:

Lord of the Rings (all 3 movies)

The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (there's other sinbads too) 

Clash of the Titans  (packed with fantasy elements)

Conan the Barbarian

King Kong (1933 and 2005)  *no magic, but great creature battles

Yep. And I totally expected to get torn a new one for doing so. XD   I don't care, I am a 45 yr old guy and I thought the DBZ movie was very well done and faithful to the anime. I am surprised it did not do better. But yeah I totally expected someone to bust my chops on that.

And sorry, that dragon in NES was an insult to dragons everywhere. I don't give a shit if it was made for kids. I'll admit NES was not without its positive elements - I mostly just hated that ghey fluffy dragon.

If they watch all those movies broken down into 1 hour chunks and get inspired we're going to end up with a game that's 1% Conan, 1% Willow, 1% Dark Crystal, and 97% LotR....LoL. Keep the movies random to spread out the inspiring ideas ;)

I actually quite liked that dragon...he was just a quasi-chinese dragon-DOG.  Not a real 'dragon', bah! lol

36 yr old guy here and I've seen almost all the Dragonball episodes and DragonballZ episodes... so I can safely say the DBZ movie created a completely different history.  Even the death of the grandfather was completely changed.  And how Piccolo was controlling the transformed Goku was completely inaccurate... not to mention the transformation was way too tiny.  While the movie was overall "okay", the list of inaccuracies were ENORMOUS.  I don't mind minor changes, but clearly the creators quickly read Cliff Notes for DBZ.

Fiathful was a bad choice of words. I should say they recreated the same feel as the anime, which I was very surprised how well they captured that in live action.

Oh and when they get CalCiv III - watch all 5 seasons of Babylon 5. OK, the first 4 seasons then.

If people will take notice of reply #10 by jbrunhaver, he's mentioned two excellent movies by Hayao Miyazaki.

These two movies (Howl's castle + Princess Mononoke) both present a very different view of magic than what's seen in LOTR or A Song of Ice and Fire.  Also worth mentioning would be Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, athough perhaps that's too sci-fi.  Maybe giant bugs and giant fungi? :pout:

I'm not sure if this idea became a reality at Stardock, but I certainly hope it's at least being considered.   Many game ideas can be generated from watching movies plus it won't take any time away from the employees since they will be off the clock eating lunch anyways.  With their hands and mouth usually busy with food might as well provide fun inspiration using their eyes.
