Trek Ships

Ok, this is a topic in which I am dying to post, seeing no one here has ever posted one of this topic...

My question is...What is your favorite Trek ship (can be Feds, Rommies, Klingons, or even Borg, heck it doesn't have to be from any of the four races, just mention the ship type and put down the reason you like it...)

I'll start it off by saying my fav ship is probably the Galaxy and nebula class ships cause if you compare the stats and the ships ablities, in battle, they are like the rooks of the fleet. and besides who can't argue when they turn they don't look good.

oh, dude, obviously the Federation Soverign Class... im just totally in love with that ship, everything from weapons to utilities to its general aesthetic qualities... love it!

in terms of weapons however... the Romulan Shinz'on and his ship, the one in Star Trek: Nemesis... thats gotta be the best in terms of firepower DEFINITLY.

I kinda agree the soverign class does look totally new I mean, not at the hull coloring, compared to the other ones, but really, it probably because of the new cg we have these days...

but in terms of firepower, a defiant class could easily match it

as for the rommy shinz'on ship, it is possible for the borg to defeat it easily, but it is no doubt an formitable ship

I liked some of the Vulcan ships from Enterprise (one of the few good things about that series).

im not sure... Voyager seemed to do pretty well against the borg and the Shinz'on's ship was much more powerful... it had like 20+ torpedo tubes, dozens of disruptor banks and that superweapon... plus cloaking and extreme manouverability as well as strike fighters...

but in terms of firepower, a defiant class could easily match it

again, not sure... first Defiant is newer than the Soverign...

but the Defiant has 4 Phase Cannon emitters, 3 Phase Beam Emitters, and 6 Torpedo tubes,

the Sovereign has about 16 Phaser Emitters, and 10-12 Torpedo Tubes, also with a compliment of heavier torpedos than the Defiant had access too...

the Defiant is more manouverable, and has a cloak sure... but the Soverign has the guns...

enough with the defiants and soverign, what do you think about the other classes....

i always loved TNG ships, but there is something about the Constitution Refit that is just really cool.  probably the most versatile ship in its era, but not the strongest.

long time favorite would be the Akira class.  maybe it just reminds me too much of the P-38 Lightning (one of my fav WWII fighters).  again a versatile ship but designed more with the borg in mind.  so like the defiant it was built for combat.

ENT era I liked the Andorian battle cruisers too.  Shields, tractor beams, etc they matched the Vulcan ships in most ways except they were kinda blue.

I have to go BORG. I always liked the gigantic box in space. So incredibably wrong to engineer that way, but amusing nonetheless.

my favorite was always the prometheus-class

also the scimitar (that's shinzon's warship). in terms of sheer power, nothing could match it, except the borg. power is beautiful

what's wrong with it? in space there's no air resistance, so no drag. cubes are simple and easy to engineer. makes sense the borg, half-robots, would build ships in simple geometric shapes

Well, in space, you have the force of a vacuum. This is why almost any space faring vehicle you see (such as the space station) is either spherical or cylindrical in some way shape or form. A cube has stress concentration points that no engineer would ever actually make.

The borg did make a spherical ship though. I forget which Star Trek: Generation movie it was in, but the borg definitely used one.

First Contact, and was also featured in Voyager. In regards to the OP, my favourite would have to be the Constitution Refit.

^ also in TNG: I, Borg

sensors detected a spherical shaped ship.  :borg:   my geek is showing.

the funny with star trek, cool looking ships are like weakest, and the more simpler ones are almost always the most powerful...

I'm a fan of the Federation Defiant Class. There's something distinctly Starfleet about them, but with an elegance not present in most the others. I wish they styled themselves after the Defiant style more than the two-to-four nascelle-on-sticks style.

The Nebula Class is my favorite too.

I've always loved the looks of the Klingon D-7.

But I think I'm alone in that.

No, you're not, I think the D-7/K'T'Inga is awesome too. They look especially cool when roaming around in packs.

I've always liked the Klingons' K'vort-class vessel:  It's essentially a larger version of their classic B'rel-class Bird-of-Prey.  Very sleek and predatory-looking, as a Klingon warship ought to.  It's also a pretty well-rounded vessel, and is suited to carry out any variety of missions.

Second would be the Federation's Sovereign-class.  It just looks very modern, sleek, & powerful, while still retaining the original "Starfleet clean" style & appearance.

The Romulans' signature D'deridex-class Warbird rounds out my top three.  It's not the most practical design, but it's a powerful ship and it just looks damn cool.  B)
