Not sure exactly, though it is sure legit. I was hosting and my pre-made mates were all joining and two of them got the success screen though they never entered the room, from my perspective at least.The other joined fine.

They had to quit out and rejoin IIRC.

Yeah I have had that too, I didn't even need to join the game before it told me I had won, I decided not to play after that as it was unfare to the other team.

Just noticed in the screen shot that there are two game hosted by the same person, were you trying to join on of those?

More seriously, has anyone found any case that regularly produces this?

I've gotten it twice, both in response to clicking "join game"

As for the cause, the game I tried to join often disappears from the list on refresh, so I would think its a lobby that is no longer active but still appearing on the list, possibly due to the host's connection failing. 

I tried to reproduce this, and did manage it once.

I think if as a host you quit your lobby just as somone tries to join they fail to make it in but still get some form of connection...resulting in the success screen.

Though there must be other ways, since when me and my friends saw this, i as host did not quit......
