Windows Update issues

Is Windows Update working for everyone or is the site down? I keep getting errors when I try to get updates over a Wi-Fi connection. Newly installed XP SP2. Windows firewall is off. I'm getting this error code: 0x80072EFE. Wi-Fi is the only way his notebook can connect. No LAN or Modem ports. Thanks.

The wi-fi has a firewall - try another wi-fi location. Sounds like a public location.

Well when I try to go to the Microsoft website to research this, I get 'temporarily unavailable' this morning. Suck. Anyway, that error code is for 'internet connection aborted.' I know it's cliche, but did you try restarting? SP2 might not be fully installed until then.

it sounds like the sp2 up date was bad uninstall it see if that takes care of your problem if not u may have a denial of service bug if your antivirus program does not find any thing u may have to use system restore to restore your comp to an earler time before u started having problems. if u do not want to do that can down load microsofts malicious software removal utility u can get it from pcworld.com. also if u do have a bug and find it u may have  programs that are not up to date on patches i would recomend useing the secunia psi utility u can get it from pcworld.com as well. it will update all programs security patchs . after  u have tryed every thing u can and still have problems u may want to call microsofts help center and talk to on of there techs. i hope u can get it fixed good luck

SP2 is not the issue. It came bundled with this version of XP. I'll try turning off the router's firewall.

Well even with the router firewall turned off I am still running into this error.

Thanks. I will try again. I tried with my wired desktop and all is well. Must be to config of the wireless setup.
