Is there a way to Install Entrenchment Without Impulse Updating Original Sins to 1.17?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to know I can install Entrenchment without Impulse trying to update the Original Sins to 1.17.

I want to keep my Original Sins at v1.05 so I can still use the "7 Deadly Sins Mod", but still able to play Entrenchment. If I install Entrenchment v1.03, then Impulse updates my Original Sins from v1.05 to v1.17.....so then I cant use the "7 Deadly Sins Mod".

It starts to get annoying to keep having to uninstall Original Sins and Entrenchment from Impulse, reinstall Original Sins with retail disk, get the v1.05 patch from Filefront in order to use the "7 Deadly Sins Mod".

And if I want to play Entrenchment, I have to update my Original Sins from v1.05 to v1.17, making the "7 Deadly Sins Mod" incompatible.

If what I ask isn't possible, then I guess I'll just wait for the next patch for the "7 Deadly Sins Mod" to be compatible with Original Sins v1.17 or Entrenchment.

the simplest way to keep your sins 1.05 is to COPY your entire sins program folder to another folder with a changed/different name eg sins of a solar empire 1.05, create a desktop link to the 1.05 sins exe then update sins  & entrenchment to current with impulse.

th only problem is that sins 1.05 & 1.17/entrenchment1.03 have differences in the user.settings file and each WILL overwrite the others settings so you HAVE to re-setup your prefered settings each time you swap between them

also the next relase of the 7 deadly sins will be for entrenchment only( at least acording to what has been stated in the 7 deadly sins thread).

hope this helps

I have used this in one of my computers, and there is a way around the user.settings issue, and that is to have TWO different windows logins, one for 1.05 & the other for entrenchment, BUT the program folders for sins 1.05 & 1.17/entrenchment NEED to be different paths as I had suggested, and I have tetsed this and it DOES work

Thanks for the advice abut the user settings. Its not really a big deal to me, I keep my settings the same all the time anyway.

I already copied the entire "Sins of a Solar Empire v1.05"file and put the copied file in a new folder called "SOASE V1.05". I created a desktop shortcut to the new SOASE V1.05 folder.

I'm reinstalling Entrenchment now which will be done in a moment.....

ALRIGHT!!!

Sins v1.05 work fine. Now I can play 7 Deadly Sins without uninstalling Entrenchment.

Thank you harpo for the help and advice, I really appreciate it!

+Karma for you.

I'm pretty sure there's an updated version of the 7 Deadly Sins mod that works with Entrenchment.  I'm not sure if it works with the most recent versions of the game though.  You might consider looking into the Distant Stars mod, which I'm pretty sure is updated for the most recent versions.

You can auto archive your current install in Impulse before it updates. To do so, click the blue menu button in the upper left and then choose 'Preferences'. Under 'Archive & Install' place a check in the box for 'Archive applications before updating'. Then when you update, you can always roll back to a previous version if need be.
