Where is .wba file downloaded to?

I am not sure this is the right place for this.

When I download a .wba file that is not in a zip file, the dialog box says it is being downloaded to a temporary folder. The thing is, the file is not then transferred to C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\WindowBlinds, for me to use in Window Blinds. Does anyone know where the temporary folder is possibly located? I have Vista Home premium 64 bit and I.E. 8, plus in Window Blinds 6.4 (build129 x86-Vista Edition) – 64 bit OS. I have looked for the folder, but cannot find it. If I could download these files with Getright, like I do the zip files, it would not be a problem. I keep getting an error when I use Getright. Any suggestions on how to get the files where they belong?

Type %temp%  in your startmenu for view your temporary folder

I suggest you too to disactivate getright or config better the options of the program

You can also right-click on the red download button and select" Save target as" and have it download to a folder of your choice, then just double click on the .wba file to install it.

A big plus to Wizard's method, which is what I use, is you can also copy the original wba file to an extra folder and keep a backup of it which comes in handy.

If I do what you're doing (on XP here), the skin automatically installs to Windowblinds - it sounds like you might be having a problem installing the skins.  Maybe UAC issues or such?

Thank you. Unfortunately none of the files I downloaded are in the folder. Nor do they seem to be anywhere else.

Why? It is not where the problem lies. Zip files download just fine through it from Wincustomize. I am only having trouble with the .wba files. I have downloaded the cursor theme files just fine using the IE built-in downloader.

Thank you, but tried that. I keep getting an error message (file not found) on that one.

It is quite possible UAC or the likes causing the problem. I never had a problem like this with XP. Only reason I am using Vista is because my old machine went belly up and the only machine with the hardware I needed, that I could afford (bought it at Circuit City going out of business), had Vista. ;P

I do understand that, but I cannot find the downloaded file anywhere on my computer, to put in the folder.

If you just single clicked the red download button, you will not have the wba file on your computer....the blind files are extracted from the wba file when you download it.  The only way to get the wba file as a download is to right click the download button and click on "Save Target AS" and then select the folder you want to down load the wba file to.  Then once it is downloaded, you will have to double click the wba file to get it to install.  You will still have the wba file on your computer in the folder you downloaded it to.  I am running Vista on my desktop and have not had any problems downloading blinds by doing the right click thing.  I also have XP on my laptop, and I have no problems there either.

Nothing is being extracted from the .wba files either. The only blinds I have in Window Blinds are the ones that came preinstalled, none of the blinds that I downloaded are there. Even though I get a dialog window saying abc.wba is being downloaded, nothing is showing up anywhere, no .wba files, no extracted files, nada. That is where the problem is. I am not getting anything; if it was extracted to the Window Blinds folder, it would be fine.

try looking in:public documents/stardock/windowblinds/skinstudio6/wba

thats normally where the zipped wba goes to when you save a skin....but not sure if this willl address yr issue, but have a look anyway.

If you still can't find your downloads you might check out other ways to manage them.

I use Internet Download Manager - it's versatile and great at keeping track of/organizing downloads. In my experience, it beats anything browsers use.

I just looked at your profile.....you are a citizen and a customer, not a subscriber to Wincustomize.  Not being a subscriber limits the amount you can download.  I noticed that you have downloaded over 2 gig of files.  This may be the issue....you may have reached your limit of what you are allowed to download.

Look at this link:  https://forums.wincustomize.com/312082

But if you are a customer there is no limit of download? wrong?

I've over 3 gig and i'm apprentice by one month

Sc4rfy....if I remember correctly, downloads are unlimited only if you are a wincustomize subscriber...regardless of rank.

Have you configured GetRight to download .wba extensions?

Configuration > General > Monitor Browser > Type and Options....you need wba listed here - be careful with the .wba and semi colons and spaces in the list.

Also ticking the option to prompt for  browser or getright handling of the download always gives you a fallback when one way falls down, just click the download link again and try the other method. Read the GetRight help files for more info.

Thanks for all of your input. I still do not know what the issue is, it only affects the .wba files. I can download any other file I want without a problem. I am a current customer, so there are no download limits for me. I have Getright configured and as I say I have no problems with any other file. only the .wba files. I solved the problem with a work-around. I will use Firefox for downloads and I.E. for articles and the forums. So thank you to those who gave input. C.N.
