good cover v. bad cover

Completely inspired by the suckitude of the awful and horrific rendition of Careless Whisper by Seether.  I mean really how can a band that has a few rocking songs go so incredibly wrong?  I decided to enlighten the world with my always scientific list of good cover songs and bad cover songs.

 

The Good

Black by Aaron Lewis of Staind - I honestly like it better than the original.  And NO it is not whiny. 

Higher Ground by Red Hot Chili Peppers - Awesome! 

Give a Little Bit by Goo Goo Dolls - much improved

Smooth Criminal by Alien Ant Farm

Hurt by Johnny Cash

 

The Bad

Careless Whisper by Seether

Love Song by 311 - no, No, NOOOOOO!!!!!!

Last Kiss by Pearl Jam - truly Eddie you made my ears bleed

 

Okay this list was a lot bigger in my head before I actually sat down and started typing but you get the idea.  So what do you think?  Best cover songs?  Worst cover songs?  Share with the group.

Ditto what Charles said...and Bou, too, whichever you wanna be.  Good, bad...where's the ugly?

Styx had a great cover album a couple years ago where they did a bunch of their heroes' music and that was good. 

And yeah...Hurt...John made it his own, din he?

Bad?  Almost all covers wind  up being bad.

I just have to use the internet at the library so I'll try to visit but I won't be on as regularly as I used to be.  Hopefully I'll be in a position to get a new computer and home internet service soon.
