A Voice For Radio

I'm hanging out in a motel in Amarillo. There's a bar next door, The Buckles Western Bar, and I was in there enjoying a few adult beverages. Tomorrow morning I'll be picking up some transformers in Lubbock going to Dallas. Not a long run but it pays well.

While in the bar I was shooting the shit with my fellow patrons, most of them truckers. One guy told me I had the perfect voice for radio and another agreed. My voice is my voice, such as it is. This isn't the first time I've been told this. I guess my voice does carry well so it probably would be ok for radio. Maybe I've missed my calling, who knows?

I do know I have the perfect face for radio.

I think it would be kind of cool to do a radio show. I wouldn't pass up the chance to do so. Somehow I doubt anyone would be interested in anything I had to say though.

I wonder what you'd sound like :) Strange how even if you never really think about it you tend to have a certain image of someone you've never met in your head :p

You can probably do a weekly mason's trucking adventures podcast, play a few tunes, pick some great stories from your years on the road :)

Hmmm and the discussion of interest isn't really an issue is it, seeing as you're 5th leading user on the site? :D

That's easy. Just check Youtube for my videos from the road under the name TheSaddleTramp.

Ok :) Will do!

edit: watched a few of the roadmovies, you sound very relaxed :) I'm sure people could listen to mason's talk radio :)

You sound just like I thought you would, sort of a Tom Bodett kind of voice.  "we'll keep the light on for you."

Of course I had seen your home videos too.  I would listen to you on the radio!

checked it out Mason.  Ya, you do have a good radio voice.  It's not too late!  Maybe you could do some good talk radio.  If so, I could come on and stir the pot a bit and help your ratings...

or maybe you could join a barbershop quartet.

That reminds me.  I sent one to serenade my husband.  You can check that out here; part 1 of two parts.
