Animations for BS? How-what??

Greetings people

First post.

Anyway, I came to make a few questions, im interested on animated booting. Now, after browsing a little around the sub forum, I realized that, XP is no longer supported and Vista doesn't have (yet?) available support for animated bootskins. My current PC is an old one running XP, but Im building a new one wich will be running on Vista SP2 (most likely) until WINDOWS 7 is released. With that said, what can I expect on the near future? I mean, right now I can't test anything for vista, but in a few days it will change; now, I know that most likely the question of when/if bootskin for Vista will get support for animations has been already been throwed around, hope you don't mind me repeating it. And the other question is, if Vista or /, support animations.....What kind of animations??? You'll see, ever since I tested or merely watched stardock products, glad-curious and impressed, I started wondering how to customize my rig, and ponedered themes, styles...many ideas for short; and, being a big fan of Macross/Robotech, I decided to go that route for my main customization. I've seen nice themes in wincustomize to get, inspire and/or modify (if I can get the whole understanding of the design), many great themes...however, for the bootskin I was thinking of a nice intro, specifically, get a cosmic nebula kindda image for still backgroun and on the middle of the screen, perhaps with some effect, get a brief video of the series intro to play, Im preparin the edition of the intro with my DVDs and my soundtrack to get a good edition for the sound...however, I have no idea if such bootskin might be possible. sincerely, I hope it is.

BootSkin Vista does not have the ability to create animated bootskins.  Something like this may get looked into for Windows 7.

Thanks for the reply!

It is a pity that Vista can't get animation, hopefully it will change on 7......somewhere I can cast my vote for such option? Specially something as "complex" as my idea???

Thanks in advance.

It was easy to make them for Win95/98/SE. Why so difficult now? Has anyone looked into how the default bootskin works? Maybe I'll see if I can figure something out.

The animation file is simply not as accessable in Windows Vista as it was in earlier versions.  However, the No GUI boot image asset is.  This is what gets replaced by BootSkin Vista.  Should you just diable the animated boot screen on Vista, you would see this by default:

OK, just bumping the thread as to know if there has been any kind of advancement on the matter.

Already capable for W7? Can it be animated? As in inserting a small video clip or if not something more simple???

It has been quite a while since I throwed this question, so, it would be nice to see the progress (if any) in the matter.

Thanks in advance.

BootSkin does not support Windows 7 as the OS changed to make it much more complicated to change the bootskin.

Not with the current app, and possibly ever.  Static images only.
