Confusing myself with my cleverness!

2-3 copies of Sins how to update a particular copy?

Alright, so a little while ago I had asked how to install more than one copy of sins, and Annatar was gracious enough to explain it to me (you recieved Karma Annatar!)

Now I was so pleased with this as I had my Original Sins with a massive game going on that I didnt have to lose because I was so keenly interested in trying out DANMANS mod, as I think we all know that mod runs on a much older version of Sins, which was where my dilemma came to be.

So here is my new dilemma, I now have my original Sins at 1.12 ( I still have that epic massive game going on and am really not wanting to lose that game through an update)

DANMANS Sins at 1.05 (Great Mod by the way)

And just recently (As in about 3-4 weeks ago) purchased Entrenchment

Now, the crux of it all, I want to update to all the latest versions, no problem you say? Well, maybe , maybe not.

Can I direct impulse as to which copy I want to be updated?

I have Entrenchment attached  to what I call my "Original" sins game folder and that is the copy I would like to update to the latest versions, not my other 2 copies. I don't see it giving me that option though, just a generic "update" option, to which I have no idea which it will update...maybe all of them for all I know?  lol

I suppose I'm willing to let my 1.12 version go peacefully into the night if needs be, but I really don't want to have to scrub both the DANMAN mod version and my Epic Game 1.12 if I dont have to.

Did this make sense to anyone but me? heh

You can't tell Impulse which copy to update, it will take the one that it installed, not the copies you made. That's why I always suggest that people keep the main copy tied to Impulse :)

Now, it sounds like that's actually what your setup is so in that case it should be okay. Another option for you is to re-download the latest patched Sins/Entrenchment from http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com and just install from that. I'm not sure it would let you install while you already have it installed as far as Impulse is concerned, though, but then you can make a copy of your Impulse-recognized install too just in case >_>

Copies of copies of copies! Woo! :)

heh, thanks once again Annatar, your help is always timely and appreciated, indeed the copy with entrenchment was/is the one attached to impulse and the update went as I had hoped and left my other out of sync patched copies alone as I had wanted, so I am now fully patched/updated on my Entrenchment game and hopelessly outdated on the other two copies, plus my original "original" Soase game at 1.0 ...lol, copies of copies indeed!

While I love the ease of use and convienance of Impulse, darn if it doesn't create some brain twisters for those of us that are running things just a touch differently than the "norm"!

Luckily, it only requires some minor problem solving to get around the issues when they do creep up from time to time.

Great Work Stardock and the Impulse team!

And incomming Karma once again Annatar!

:P Well, you can also start archiving each patch version if you want for the future, too. I sort of understand why they don't offer earlier patches, since it'd be a support nightmare if people start emailing about 1.05.

Oh, and you're welcome ;)

True Annatar, or I could, you know, finnish the games I have started and just be done with it and move on, but that'd be far far to simple a solution =P

I fully appreciate how patch support is handled and see very good reasons as to why it is done that way, had a work around not been available to me, it would be of my own stubborness and I fully appreciate that aswell, just ask my wife about that stubborness...lol

Anyways, thanks once again, the help is always appreciated!
