Are you sure that the mod you're using makes changes that are immediately evident? If you've gotten as far as it appearing and being enabled in the mod options, it should be applied.

If you put maps in the correct GF folder, they should appear under a GF category in the map selection when creating a new game (not by size like they used to). Just click through the sizes until you reach it.

i put it in the galaxy forge folder, i went through all the catagories and the maps where not in any of them, not even the gal forge catergory

there are 2 folders i tried to put the maps in, Galaxy and Galaxy Forge, non of them worked ive tried the Requiem mod and the Celestial Bodies mod, i dont know if they are supposed to show up? i was trying the 7 deadly sins mod a few months ago, i had switched the game back to 1.05 to try it but it didnt work, ive got 1.16 and Entrenchment now tho

i meant GalaxyForge... and its the right pathway good advice ill try it ill download the map thing

dna the galaxy folder is the old location and while maps can be seen in there is sins 1.16 you NEED to alter the galaxy.manifest for entrenchment to see the maps.

as KYRO stated the correct location is the GalaxyForge folder next to the mods folders(note no spaces in the name and it is created upon first run of sins/entrenchment

another cause of maps not being seen is te map is the WRONG version. for 1.15+/entrenchment1.00+ the map version should be 3, but it is a lot more than the mapversion line in the maps there is also the quickstart and normalstart lines in the map and EACH planet. below is my standard advice for maps problems

assuming you have sins 1.16/entrenchment 1.02,  the galaxy forge maps NEED to be placed here for xp
C:\Documents and Settings\'user name'\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge

or here for vista/windows 7
C:\Users\'user name'\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge.

NOTE the first two folders after the 'user name' are hidden , so to see them you must first click on 'tools' then 'folder options', then 'view', then click on 'show hidden files& folders' then click ok, then you will be able to browse your want to the folder. I suggest when you find the folder that you create a shortcut to it on the desktop

also the galaxy forge maps only show up in the galaxy forge tab of map types

and if a map you want to play was released before 25th feb 2009 then you will also neet the sins map updater from here

by the way ive downloaded map updater , but where do i save it to? and i know that the maps appear in the Galaxy Forge section

the program will run from ANY folder in the computer and uses theregistry to find the sins folder and the localapps registry value to find the mods/settings/galaxyforge/mapdesigner areas, but it does need all the oldstruct & newstruct txt files. one you un-rar the map updater then run the exe and click on the find galaxies then click on the fix galaxies and the program will find all the galaxy files and during the fix galaxies phase it lists each file that it fixes and also counts all the files it fixes

tsurani did you extract the mods to the mod entrenchment 1.03 folder?

the mods folder structure is

mods entrenchment 1.03\mod name\*.manifest,\gameinfo and other folders

yes i even copied the game info folder into the main mod folder and still no luck

you should not need to copy gameinfo into the mods folder as that would overwrite the mod.

once you have the mod in the mods entrenchment 1.03 folder then start entrenchment go to options then mods and you should see the mod listed in the left column then click on the mod then click on enable mod and repeat as nessacary when you have added the mod(s) then click on the apply button( bottom) then click on the back and start a game

ive saved and extracted the mod to Entrenchment v1.03 mods folder, clicked enable and apply in the options but it doesnt work, it seems to load then when i play a game no changes, no additional races if the mod has them, no new ships, effects, planet sizes and types, nothing changes AT ALL

tsurani is the mod for entrenchment 1.03?

they didnt work before the patch either, the mods are for v1.02 and the 1.03 compatable ones dont work either

tsurani,

I am in the process of debugging a utility that will almost automatically update mods from entrenchment 1.02 to 1.03, and I have most of the mods for entrenchment 1.02 to test the utility upon,

the most important question is did you extract the folders from the archives?

if not then I suggest downloading 7zip or winrar, my preference is 7zip as it is free and is used by some of the mods as it produces a smaller archive, and can also work with the rar & zip formats as well

there is a subtle difference in planets, ships, & structures between 1.02 & 1.03 adding a rendershield true line after the sheildmesh line

this difference DOES cause CTD when running a 1.02 mod in 1.03

if you could tell us which mods you were trying to use we can advise the best answers foreach of the mods

i use 7zip to extract the files

i tried to use Celestial Bodies MOD,

Star Wars Requiem Mod

and im downloading Distant Stars as im typing, this one IS 1.03 compatable

both the cesletial bodies and requiem have had update versions released. which version of the mods were you trying to use?

the latest CB Mod im sure of it, that what it said, ive had to do some stuff to the comp, and i cant get onto impulse or uninstall it so i can  reinstall it,

did you just copy and paste the extraction folder or did you go into the extracted folder and copy and paste the folder with in it?

I've almost the same problem, I just have 3 maps for entrenchment and when I add some to the galaxy & texture directory it doesnt work.

+ My map generator doesnt work as well on entrenchment.

I would really enjoy playing more than 3 maps...

sloul I suggest placing your maps in the Galaxyforge folder next to the mods folder

for entrencjment 1.01 you need to place the maps in the program files\sins..\galaxy folder AND EDIT the entrenchment galaxy.manifest adding the new galaxies and altering the files count at the top

BUT FOR sins 1.16+/entrenchment 1.02+,  the galaxy forge maps NEED to be placed here for xp
C:\Documents and Settings\'user name'\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge

or here for vista/windows 7
C:\Users\'user name'\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge.

Hi Harpo, thanks for your answer.

I did what you told me to do with the entrenchment galaxy.manifest but the maps still dont show up.

Here is my galaxy.manifest file:

maps listed in the maifest should be in either the program files\sins of a soalar empire\galaxy folder or in the program files\sins\entrenchment\galaxy folder if the galaxy's are in other locations then they will not be found, also if the maps are version 2(the second line in the galaxy) they will NOT be read by sins & entrenchment as the current map format version is 3, but there is may more changes than just the version number, ie each planet needing quickstart and normalstart lines, so if the maps you want are versions 0,1 or 2 and you want to play them in entrenchment then you NEED my map updater to correctly update the maps to v3

I would like to try everything thats possible in order to play more than 3 maps.
May you tell me how to I alterate the manifest for making the maps v0, 1 or 2 compatible with entrenchment ?
If I could just see how it looks like, I could reproduce it.
