Installing Windows 7

Dual Boot with Vista 64

I currently have Vista 64 and want to install Windows 7 as a dual boot. Will the installation create a partition for me on the hard drive, or do I need to do that before hand? Will I be able to delete Windows 7 at some point if desired? Thanks in advance.

Unless you have a blank harddrive or unformatted space on your harddrive, then yes, you will have to create a partition beforehand. Check out the create and format hard disk partitions entry in the control panel to do this. You can right click on the harddrive where you want to install Windows 7, select shrink partition, and then shrink it to leave enough space for your Windows 7 partition, and create the new partition there. Deleting Windows 7 then will only be the a matter of removing the dual boot entry in your startup file, and then formatting the partition where you installed Windows 7.

I was dual booting for a while. I am now running Windows 7 exclusively, with no regrets. I've ordered my copy so will be installing that in October.

Since making my new machine....and thus not having a licenced OS to install [yet] for it...I've used nothing but Win7 RC on it...and see absolutely no reason to change [other than the licenced ver in October, of course]...;)
