Minor races rule!

Had a simply awesome game yesterday where I used the Alexians and the Carinoids(are these guys the only minor races in the game?) to single handedly wipe out the Drengin military and all thier starbases, while my economy and tech rose dramatically. All you gotta do is place a bunch of your ships around a Drengin colony/starbase during peacetime and then give them to the minor races for loads of tech and moola, as well as the condition that they declare war on the race you wish them to attack. Not only does this allow you to bypass your enemies defenses, it also allows you to avoid military maintinence for your ships, as well as allowing you to continue the trade you have with the race you want the minors to attack. Try it out, there's nothing like getting someone else to do all your dirty work while your hand remain totally clean :)

There are a LOT of different minor races. I have noticed the the Alexians and Carinoids are very frequent and they seem to start with most games.

The Drengin are usually a minor race by the time I'm finished "negotiating" with them LOL

I've come across Kwilasians, Scottlingas, Paridians, Windischians and Furan. Sometimes there's the I-League and other races that appear through events.

i like having allinces with minor races more than the major ones. Cause the mojor ones are more likly to turn on you cause they want to win to the minor races arnt towards dominating everything and are more mello most of the time. Plus it doesnt hurt giving them a extra system or two if you can aford it it turns them into power houses that how i won my frist war by allieing with the alexians.

I also love the minor races. They built up their planets until they're in the 20s, don't expand beyond their sector... great.

Because then I walk in and either convince them using a terror star, or I simply land a bunch of troops - voila, great planets full of people, doing bird imitations (cheep, cheep).

Last game one of them started up in the middle of my empire... with three major star systems in the same sector... and two terror stars on their way south... fell into my hands without me having to do *anything* ;)

I had one game where the I-League showed up and they won the damn game! They proceeded to kill every major race. I ended up quitting cause they we kicking my but. I expected that as the last major left I would win by default but that didn't happen. Minor race indeed.

Something is funky with minor races building. At least on smaller maps, they often have more ships than all the major races combined.

The I-League can (quickly) become a major power. I havent seen this type of aggresive behavior from the other minor civs. I take this to be because the I-League isnt a race as such, but more of a conglomerate of all the disillusioned races in the game.

I had the I-league come up and wipe out almost every race in twenty turns. Twenty turns! I was killing everyone and couldn't keep up with one of their planets. :sniff!:
