I give up on this game 7 weeks I gave them

2 hrs i have been home and it still the same fucking problem.

This P.O.S game plays connection games.

I keep hearing oh its fixed see but I still play the lobby game more then 50% of the time.

7 fucking weeks and its still the same.

flame me go ahead flame all you want. 7 weeks and they still haven the same problems 7 weeks.

7 weeks is long enough  for any company to fix any part of the game.

they need to put proxies for everyone till they get the p2p to work correctly.

I mean the first day and second day the patch was out it was good but now its the same dam thing. I got suckered and bought a 2nd copy for  a friend and I am beating my head over that now.

The only good thing i see in SD is frogs openness and keeping us in the loop. But being informed does not fix the game.

5 minutes i wish it was 5 minutes it took 1 hr to get a game going due to people comen in leaven due to connection issues to the grp. then a few left then a 4 joins in that makes the game screwwy then it needs to be rehosted. I mean if it took 5 minutes to get a game going i would be fine with that .

Are you staying in the same game the whole time trying to get it working? Sometimes people who do not forward ports or who have bad connections do not leave the lobby and the game never starts because there is always someone who can not connect to them.  Try going to different games if one of them has connection issues.  If your connection is good, you will be in a game in less than 5 minutes using this methode.

damn i rly start to struggle with buying this game. is the connection problem rly that huge? or can some people actually play without problems.

That said, Dawn of War 2 still has issues that haven't been fixed since release and the game is over 3 months old. This stuff happens, especially when its a big title with a custom engine. Most FPS don't have this problem because they are usually built on existing engines (UT engine, Quake engine, Crysis engine, Source engine, etc.). Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there are very many options for licensable RTS engines. There will be growing pains.

If you do not want to give up on the game because you enjoy it, I suggest you set it aside and come back in a month or so.



 

you cant compare this to dow 2 cos it may have bugs still but at least you can play the game and there was never a time you couldnt exepted when the steam ath server whent down which i may add is annoying but it still not as bad as not being able to.I have no problems as its ether the game or there side which is very annoying.

I've been able to play DG online since I got it. I see no difference between DG and DoW2 in this regard. Just because DoW2 MP worked for you doesn't mean it worked for everyone. Just like I can't assume that MP for everyone is fine since it worked for me. Go to DoW2's tech support forums and you will find people complaining about the game crashing on startup or not being able to join an MP game.

sometimes i stay but if it takes longer then 5 minutes i try another game.

yea i understand not everyone has their pc strait and thats why they need to implement these options in the menu.

the ports being openned probably is not do able with an ingame option but to have connections to skip/use nat or proxy would be doable.

thats the problem most people do not even know what ports are nor what they are for. PC games needs to be dumbed down a copmpany can not expect people to grasp how to do something they never had to do for any other game to connect to play. Perfect example look at wow downloader when it first came out it was hideous so they farmed the patches out.

I feel you Stryker247.  It sucks that the game still has issues connecting.  It does and imo Stardock/Frogboy should not be saying it's fixed cause after the small amount of testing I did this weekend, it certainly is not.

But what can we do?  If you don't want a refund (I don't) then all we can really do is let GPG/Stardock know it's still not working and then be patient.  Sooner or latter things will get worked out, multiplayer is not easy esspcially if you've not done it before.

Also, at the beginner level, the dota heroes seem imbalanced.  This is similar to Demigod's constant posts of "xxx killed me, therefore he's imba."  However, at the pro level for DoTA, the balance is quite good.

Which is why the pros almost always gravitate towards certain heroes and the developers must nerf the new heroes almost every time they release them right?

The balance in DotA is surprisingly good for a game with over 9000 heroes, but some heroes just seem underpowered. And the skills in Demigod are usually a lot more creative than the ones in DotA. The skills in DotA are so similar that they have general names for a bunch of them (nuke, stun, etc). There is occasionally the skill that makes you rethink what is possible on the WC3 campaign editor, but those aren't a dime a dozen.
