Hmmm. I saw MY Aqueous XP skin posted, but the author was listed as someone else... They say that only members can leave comments and I didn't want to sign up; otherwise I would have left a comment about ripping.

How does one report something like this, anyway?

Some of the authors that were ripped on this site, that I noticed, are:

vStyler, the AV Man, adni18, The Skins Factory, Vampothika (of course), SK Originals, to name a few.

I noticed also that the person who ripped my skin was a moderator. I sent the following e-mail to him/her:

I see that you have posted the "Aqueous XP" Windowblinds skin here for download. I, as the original author, would greatly appreciate it if you would take it down. You posted this stating that YOU are the author, and you are not. You never asked my permission nor notified me of this in any way.

Thank you for removing it from your site.

I also noticed many other skins from other authors I know, but they are all listed as different authors.

The Wincustomize community is aware of these rips and may take action soon, so I recommend that THIS community do something about it first. I see that you are a moderator, so you must have some authority to do something about it.

Thanks in advance for your prompt action, and I trust you all will remove your ripped skins from this site.

If this is RapidShare you are talking about, I had a word with them a while back about this and I actually had to report each and every theme seperately that I found that was illegally posted.  I got several of them removed, but I am sure there are several back by now, and there really is absolutely no way to stop them.  Probably because they could care less about copyright laws as they are located in nations that have no respect for copyright laws.  Sad, very sad.

This site looks like it has managed to hack my machine..... not only has the email account I used to contact them been compromised...my upload usage is now on average 4 times more than my downloads.....and prior to this the ratio was about 10 to one the other way round.

Put politely....it's fucking annoying....as I now have to roll back to an older Drive Image....as well as close out the email account.

I don't usually like seeing cussing on the forums, but I have to agree with all of you this time.

Ah...the joys of being 'throttled'....I'm currently limited to a 64k dl speed as in the past 2 weeks I apparently UPLOADED just over 5gig .... where 'normal' usage would have me at 100 meg or so.

I don't get 'reset' to normal until next friday...so I have a week to enjoy at snail's pace.

In the interim I'll export appropriate settings, etc and roll back to a previous Drive Image .... at a time before all this occurred.

The 'hacked' email account will be defunct as of May 31.... which should end it.... but I need to research the whats and hows of mule servers [or whatever they are called].

If anyone gets an email from [email protected] .... it won't be from me.

Holy Crappola, Batman! I'VE downloaded a couple things from there, from links posted in email groups. Nothing happened to my machine, BUT the apps didn't WORK, either! I quit going there a year or so ago. I'm sorry to hear you got smacked around by going there, Jafo!

I sure won't ever go there again, and I'm posting a warning in all my groups!

Funny thing you say this (not funny it happened but strange), cos this month my Bigpond usage has more than tripled, yet I do not reacall going anywhere suspect or doing anything different.   I'm only 2 weeks into my 25gb monthly allowance, yet I'm sitting on 89% usage, whereas normally I don't get to that until the last couple of days, if ever.

I suspect something's up - someone hacking into my wi-fi or something - but Bigpong don't give a shit and will cut me back to 64k regardless if I step over by just a byte.

Guess that puts the carbosh on downloading all those hi-res Playboy centerfolds from 1953 through 2009, then.

As for sites like this, the ones that propogate and perpetuate rips, warez and do harm to others PC's, there needs to be international laws/agreements that hunt these bastards down and permanently end their operations... or alternatively, a vigilante group that hunts them down, nukes all their equipment and summarily executes those responsible,

Yeah, that was my fist choice as well... just thought I had better do what's seen to be right in giving the authorities the chance to do nothing and fail before sending out the mercenaries.

It really annoys me that such pond scum can exist on the internet and get away with damaging peoples computers after they've spent so much time and money on them.  As for claiming others work to be their own, well me thinks hanging them by the testicles off a cactus in the desert for the buzzards to pick their bones is a good start.
