Xinox's QoT Tanking Guide

This guide will outline the basics for using QoT like a tank. This build is much like a sedna healing build - only weaker in terms of killing other demigods. To make up for it QoT is near impossible to kill as long as she has mana....

This guide was crap.

Mulch is terrible for damage. It's too slow to activate, and it has a really slow recast time. The guide says "put two shamblers behind your enemy, then mulch them!" No. You'll be lucky if you can mulch 1 before they can run away. Let alone two. Mulch IS good for healing though.

The guide is also mistaken when it says mulch has a small range. It has an INFINITE range. I use my mulch as a heal. I cast a couple Shamblers, then just sit them back behind my towers, where they are safe. Then if I get low on health, I just mulch them for instant regen. INSTANT. Damage is delayed 2-3 seconds, but mulch health regen is INSTANT.

Generally I thiink this is more like a minion guide variation of the normal max shield/spike.

It is useful for QoT users to get the idea of mana, I generally don't use mulch just because its sortive slow but...

Is level four summon shambler actually useful? I just use level 3 because if you have infinity mana anyways i can spare to cast twice.

Yeah generally....this guide sortive sucks, and do games really last that long :P, cause I've never got to level 20

Thanks for your support/input. Retard.

Please actually read the guide properly next time. Before calling the guide "crap" try to actually understand it - just a little tip. Do you not think that maybe he was talking about the range of Mulch's damage, and not its cast range? Hence how he said it was useful for killing creeps because of this. Do you really think he meant its good at killing waves of creeps because it has a short cast range? lol...

Mulch is terrible for damage.

If your in a 1v1 sistuation vs a melee Demigod of some sort, doing an extra 750 damage is NOT terrible. End of story. It can often change the tide of the battle if you use it right. If of course your not as skilled in this game, you will find it crap because there is a 2-3 second delay, and since you cleary cant position your shamblers correct and time the mulch right to get the damage to hit, it doesnt mean its crap - it just means you are. If you do the mulch/spike combination correct as mentioned in the guide, you can get off 1.4k damage every 7 seconds - with a 2.25k heal. Did I mention the 1.4k damage was AoE?

When player skill is equal or very close they can last a long time - especially on maps like Crucible.

This guide made me try out QoT, and I really liked it.  Not only did we win, but we won badly.  I did make alterations, but I can't tell you how many times shield + (shamblers if they aren't out and at my base) + mulch has saved my hide.  Here's how the game went down, my allies were UB and Regulus against two regs and a tb on Cataract:

In the beginning I bought a siege archer idol, sold it, bought a monk idol, sold it, and then bought the cheapest scalemale plate.  I probably should have bought the helm for mana now that I think about it, as with shield you won't be taking much damage, but I hadn't played QoT a lot at all.

I started off buying shield and going to the left lane, a regulus was there.  I immediately put a shield up and started attacking him, and kept using shield.  He retreated at half health, (which is good because mana was low) leaving me with full health and a lane.  I got to level 2, bought ground spikes, and noticed tb coming to fry me.  He runs up to me and uses the fire circle, and my shield just absorbs all of it as I auto attack him.  I use shield once more, am out of mana, but tb is almost dead when it runs out, and he runs away.  Then I learned QoT's first great advantage:

Enemies will leave you alone since they just can't kill you, unlike if you're an assasin, THIS IS A GOOD THING

I didn't waste mana using spikes on the minions, but still managed to get all the way to level 5 and they hadn't attacked me yet.  I'd gotten shambler and then the next ranks for shield and spikes.  I now completely started owning their forward tower with a combination of spikes and my siege before I noticed all 3 demigods running to me.  I ran away and kept shielding myself and avoided all damage this way.  I permenately bought a siege archer and monk idol and then a the faceguard for mana, along with 1 mana pot.  I went back to the left lane, no one was there again... apparently they still decided to leave me alone.  The beauty of it is they completely waste time attacking you, you literally can't be killed 1 on 1 unless you're ganked, and then you can just shield and run away, giving your teamates time to cap more flags.  I got to level 8, went back to base and bought the pelenor crown, siege demolisher, and bishops.  I had a lot of gold from killing so many creeps.  I had rank 2 spikes and shield, mulch, and summon shamblers rank 2.

Now the fun part began.  I spiked a tower, sent my demolishers, and they completely owned it, doing 300 damage per shot (600 damage a second!  More than uproot will get you) and downed it in no time.  This is QoT 2nd great advantage:

QoT will utterly destroy towers faster than any other demigod

I pushed to their portal and downed a tower before they attempted to gank me again.  I couldn't run very far, had to use the shield + mulch combo and then I shielded again and teleported away with a scroll.  The rest of the game consisted of them leaving me alone unless I attacked that tower, I got to level 13 while everyone else was around 10.  I managed to down the tower and my allies and I uber pushed to the portal and pushed through to the citadel.  We killed all 3 demigods, because of QoT's spikes, which is her third and last fantastic advantage.

QoT, with shield and spikes, will make any demigod a KILLING MACHINE

I shielded regulus and he charged in, I followed him and spiked... he killed ALL 3 demigods in no time flat.  With shield + bishops to heal him when shield was on cd.  The other team complained wildly in chat and claimed that Regulus hacked because he kept doing 600 damage a shot, and it took 6 or 7 shots max to kill a demigod.  XD

Then I had enough to go buy giants and end the game.  My final setup was level 15 with rank 2 shamblers, rank 2 mulch, (15k heal.. what's not to like?) rank 4 shield, rank 4 spikes, rank 2 spike wave, godess of thorns.  I probably would've spent the last ranks on stats.

QoT can't kill other demigods very well, but she completely owns structures and makes other demigods killing machines.  That's just my 2 cents anyway.  The other team was pretty good, it looked like our team would completely lose early in the game as we got pushed back multiple times and the regulus died a lot.  We were able to overcome though thanks to QoT's mass pushing power.

Yup. Its also do with the way negative armour works. Since towers have 0 armour (im pretty sure they do) QoT will always put them on negative armour and when armour goes negative, you start taking a looooooooot more damge.
