Attention: do NOT post content of your Game.prefs or send it to anyone

Since this issue is getting more publicly known, I just want to warn new players not to give away the content of your Game.prefs (for technical support purposes for example).

Your Impulse Account Password is in there, unencrypted.

GPG-Servo said, that they will do something about it, but so far, it hasn't changed.

Erm, great to see you guys are having fun but this is not a far fetched scenario. Why would a user not provide his game.prefs? Who would suspect that sensible, unencrypted information is stored in it after all?

This problem has been known for a month now and we had several patches already. IMO this is a nasty security problem and should be fixed ASAP (as promised).

Not only that, certain unmentionable things could even send this password to someone. Not a problem if it were encrypted.

The OP makes a valid point about a security flaw. This should be discussed and the impact should be evaluated. Unfortunately this seems impossible in this forum :(

Hey we are just having a bit of fun :) Stardock are aware or the issue and they are going to change the location of it (or maybe encrypt it?). It is certainly a valid point and people should take it seriously. Im supried there at least isnt an official mention of this so all users are aware their pass/username is in the game.prefs file.

i don't really see the point in it being there at all though..
