Finally a step in the right direction :)

Well tried out the new patch this morning and it looks like the connection lobby is finally up to a decent standard. Joining lobbies is fast and generally painless, the only problems I have encountered so far are people who still haven't set up port forwarding.

Nice one Stardock, it finally looks like it is on track :)

Not perfect yet, but definately a huge improvement over the last couple of weeks.

Enjoy the weekend in Stardock HQ :)

Thanks Sinzer...glad to see things are clearing up for most people...it will only continue to improve.

What's been frustraing around the office is that, with every patch (for the last 1.5eks), our internal tests have shown nothing but improvement. Granted, there were a few early patches where things were OBVIOUSLY worse than what was already available, but lately we've been getting 10player games going with outside players no-problem, then to have people say a patch makes play WORSE quite disheartening.

Anyways, as the SD games team wrap up their weekly assignments we're going to try and get online to play with you guy (and let off some steam of our own)  ;)

Thanks again!

there are always a lot more people to complaign than to congratulate. I have no problem with the multiplayer (well with the connection, there are still a few bugs like fav items, achievements), and i haven't feeled the need to post about it^^ whereas a few people that experiments problems feeled the urge to troll a lot (i understand their frustration, but what can trolling achieve exactly?)

Again, congratulation for the hard work; It is impressive to see what you have done in a few days.

glasfod - that is good info.   Make sure you're not doing anything to port 6000 on your router first off.

Second, try this DLL replacement in your bin directory: http://draginol.stardock.net/files/impulsereactor-0514.zip

tryed dll with closed and open ports... does not make a differnce... windows firewall both off and on...

Edit- just remembered i closed utorrent and other p2p programs as i pretty early discovered they mess up the connection in demigod alot even tho u dont use all the bandwith... Utorrent and vuze and such programs stress the router alot.

I am also experiencing problems still. Somebody started a thread yesterday about Demigod crashing his router. This still happens for me (E-tech) with the latest update. Sometime during connecting to the lobby or while in the lobby, my router will just crash and take Demigod with it. This didn't happen before yesterday's update. Now, a router shoulnd't just crash, whatever the program is doing, but I suspect Stardock is doing something rather dodgy to make this happen. I did get one game running (4v4 even), which cancelled out because of enormous lag and subsequent disconnects.

I must say I'm kind of losing my patience with this game. Things did improve a lot over the last weeks, but this new problem is a real let-down. I really like Demigod, but I'm considering to wait a month or so until the netcode is what it should have been a few weeks ago to avoid further frustration.

I was actually able to play before Thursday patches. Yeah, wasnt perfect... at all... but still.. could at least join a game.

Same as glasfod, no ports closed , tried the dll, no firewall and still nothing happens

I was able to play any online game after the beta patch. Before the beta patch I would connect to no players at all, after it... almost 100%. The patch after that, still worked great, now the May 14th one comes and I can always connect to the host but never to ANYONE else.

When I host a game I can connect to EVERY player but no one can connect to me.

This does not change if I am in the DMZ of my router's firewall, windows firewall on/off both public and domain levels (Windows 7.) If I plug straight into my modem (Qwest ADSL2) or if I forward a million ports, mod games files, .dll's ect...

I have re-installed demigod over 20 times, re-formatted my computer to 3 different OS's (XP 32-bit, Vista 64-bit and Windows 7 RC1 [7100]) several times now.

The only thing that ever let me play online was the beta patch, the one after it and that's it. No amount of personal user config affects my ability to play games online at all. It's all Demigod software based at this point.

On a side note, VPN tools and apps such as Hamachi and Gameranger work 100% of the time for me with every and any patch. I play with other people that have purchased their copies of the game to support Stardock and Gaspowered Games as a company. However I would like the ability to play online again.

Thank you,

Shantarr Dal'rae

Glad to see I am not the only one that this patch broke connectivity. Well, not glad that you can't play either... just that I am not the odd one out.

I'm going to go ahead and guess this has to do with them finding and removing the Flow Control on the client side.  Now your computer is sending a ton more packets.  My guess is your router is crashing under heavy load.  What router are you using?

Yeah I noticed that too. I had one game before where a player left and after that I kept getting desync messages off another player.

Maybe it is something to do with the routing? It was at the end of a game so no big deal.

np Boogiebac :) I work for a smallish software company too, it can get a little depressing sometimes when people are only complaining :) It is nice to get some positive feedback too :)

Well, that sounds like a reasonable explanation. Why exactly was this Flow Control removed?

My router is an E-Tech "ADSL Modem router" (http://www.e-tech.nuProduct_Detail.php?prodtitle=Producten&SET_ID=1169&GET_LANG=E&LANG=E&SUB=Adsl). Would you know of any setting I might change to force the router to handle heavy load in a different way? I'm afraid I'm not much accustomed to changing the more advanced settings of routers. :)
