LAN and Patching

I want to introduce a few of my friends to SINS since it's my favorite RTS.  I was wondering if I'd be able to install it on their PCs and use my impulse account to patch them up to date so that we can play over LAN on my network. Would that be possible?

Actually, I have no clue. However, very few games enable Multiplayer with the same copy. Those who do have a "spawn" version of the game, which Sins doesn't, i.e. an installation that solely works for multiplayer and usually only for a limited number of players (e.g. max. 3 spawns per original in the LAN-game). It'd sort of ruin their income if one copy of Sins enable innumerable players to use it via LAN, eh?

If you have the CD.. you just just install 1.0 version on all the pcs as it doesnt require CDkeys to install. Although im not too sure about the patches. I havent tried it on my 2nd pc yet.. well i have but impulse doesnt install properly and crashes.

You can download it and patch as many times as you want on any pc from your impulse account.

Guys, ofc he can install and update it as many times as he wants to, but the problem will be whether or not <the same version> of the game can be used via LAN, and I doubt that.

In reply to the OP, yes, that's how you do it. Alternatively, you can also archive your installation of the game and if they have the same OS (archives of existing installations are OS-specific) you can just install from the archive with your Impulse account so save time re-downloading everything.

We're perfectly ok with people installing on two machines for LAN play. Just be sure to uninstall his copy before he goes if he brought his own machine over and is taking it home with him.
