Sort of random question

This may be a little weird, but today I was playing sins and just found out that the wormhole right in the middle of my empire leads to another galaxy! Currently, i have two AIs at my borders, but if i send an invasion fleet through the wormhole, i could be fighting 3+ AIs to deal with (I'm an a semi-newb, so this hasn't happened to me before because i've been fighting smaller maps). The got me thinking about how many empires could a person have at his/her border. Which leads to my question: How many empires (player or AI) did you have at your borders? Sort of a random question, but i'm curious!!!

i dont remember the max ive had while im playing, but i would imagine you could have as many enemies at your borders as there are other players.

i.e. if you are playing against 9 A.I. and you take the right planets, im sure you could organise to have to defend against all 9 A.I.s at once, though it wouldnt be a good idea because then defense would be just about impossible, as you wouldnt have enough ships, resources or time to properly defend all fronts...

would be cool though =)

yes, it's up to nine players. a tip: jump through and take some planets through the wormhole. esp. if it looks like you're losing in that system. once you're through, it becomes a chokepoint that is easily defended. oh, and

unless you're Vasari. then you got phase stabilizers so everythings just a jump away

I AM a vasari in this campaign lol. But still, i don't think that players can build phase stablizers on enemy/neutral planets, so i doubt jumping from one of the home plantes a planet of an enemy planet. Anyway, I think i misphrased the question. I was trying to to ask people about how many enemies they faced at once, not how many are POSSIBLE! My bad, sorry. And i highly doubt 9 is the answer: 1. because, that's a lot of enemies to cover and 2. some empire was bound to die before that point.

no, you phrased the question correctly, we were just theorising

first off, 9 is the answer, it is totally possible to have to face off against 9 AI's at once, if the objective is to do so. if you want to face and win against 9 ai, you have to be careful to be in a position to win. it usually takes a while for empires to die, anyway

you asked what is the most ai faced at once, it really depends on the size of the map, ive played against 5 other AI, at once, but you often hear of other players facing off against 9 AI unfairs on huge maps.

we were simply saying that all sorts of people have played against different numbers of AI, but to answer the question quickly, the most you can vs AT ONCE is 9, no matter if you win, lose or whatever.

if you want stories... maybe you should ask =)

I've faced off against... 4 or 5 interstellar empire at once as I tried to expand beyond my solar system, which had three AI allies in it who were dedicated to their own affairs. at the end of THAT one, I had 6 billion creds, 2 million of each mineral, lol. and maxed research and ships. (21 hours, huge random map)

Sounds just like the map i'm playing on right now-5-star map. I hate the wormholes on this map though, they give five entry points to my galexy of origin! It wasn't quite so fun worrying about some extra-galactical emipire poping out from a wormhole as I got my hands fun conquring another. At least they AIs were content at fighting each other in the other galaxy and not bother with me until later on, but that's another story. So i still faced only 3 empires at once, (4 if you count the empire stuck on one astroid). Anyway, now i'm asking about stories of facing off against many empires-(win, lost, or gave up on).
