My only complaint about DG...

My only complaint about DG...

...is that there is no multiple accounts for the game.

I have this problem right now where my bf and I have two computers, but only one is good enough to run DG well.. the 2nd comp is a cheap basic comp just to use the internet and microsoft word on..

So. We can't both play MP online becuz it would mess up our stats. Since my bf went ahead and used MP.. I can't. Even though I paid for DG, I can't play online. I would have to buy a 2nd copy to play online. So in essence, I'd be paying twice just so I can play the same game.. which.. is ouch on my pocket.

Don't get me wrong, I understand that Stardock has to protect itself in what ways it can against piracy and I can see the potential drawbacks of allowing multiple accounts on one game and such.. but still...

:'( Sucks for me.

Edit: and yeah.. it goes for a lot of PC games.. like L4D.. we'd have to buy a 2nd copy to play together.

Quoting ZebraFox, reply 22Proto, IMHO you should really let your GF use your account to play online. Sharing and having fun together are infinitely more important than alias stats.
lol I do, sheesh. We didn't know that she was gonna end up liking the game until a about 1-2 weeks after I already made the account. I wasn't aware that you could not have multiple Alias under one account until the day she wanted to check out online. Now that I know she likes the game and realize that the multiplayer doesn't have alias, I understand.

We both assumed that the "profile" was an alias for both single player and multiplayer. So thats why neither one of us didn't think much of it when I first made the account. I had no idea she would even end up liking this game or getting into the forums for that matter.

cuz I rule like that. :) lmao

I don't really understand your complaint. You want to play the game online. Your boyfriends wants to play the game online. You are in fact two seperate persons who want to play the game seperately. Why would you assume, that you do not have to buy the game twice?

Dumbest logic ever.  I guess when a console game is put into a console it should burn into the console permanantly and never come out or else someone else with the same console can play it somewhere else like in the other room of the same house.  I share games with my brother all the time,  only an idiot would pay twice when in the same house or on the same computer.

It is like paying 80 grand for a 40 grand car because two people might drive it.

I've seen alot of problems with multiple aliases in that a player will make 2 or more aliases, practice on one, then go to the other "clean" one to bolster their stats against noobs.  Especially in the games where rank matching occurs, so your alias looks noobesque, but in reality your skill level is master of all things <said game>.  So, the rank increases artifically because the noobs are being dominated at an extreme rate.  Now, perhaps, if all of the aliases on the account are "averaged" together based on how well you are playing at the time, it will know that you are player X and not player Y for the time being.  It would probably take a game or two for it to catch on.

What might work is if the game "stores" the results of the past few games and uses those values to "place" the stats into the appropriate alias.  There would have to be a fairly large gap between skill levels mind you, but typically players have their own ways of doing things and that could be a way to separate the "fame farmers" from the individuals in the household.

This all sounds like a lot of extra work for a very small minority of players.  If it were me and my spouse, I'd just let her use my account and screw the stats.  It's easy enough to keep track of whose stats are whose because it tracks every game, who was played against, and other details like that.

Easiest solution, spend the extra $$, support the company that made the awesome game you're wanting to play and be done with it :)

which is what we're gonna do anyway.

but the low blow to that is even to we're gonna pay the extra money, we still can't vs each other due to lack of a 2nd useable comp.

I can see what you're saying with the "fame farming" thing, but since the alias is designed for different people, the stats would be different anyway. Bleh.. idk.. I have a migraine, can't think.

Man, that quote without the smilie seems really harsh lol.  I totally didnt mean it like it sounds.  Anyway, you can look at it as you will probably have a 2nd comp someday that can run DG (especially with how cheap decent quality computers are now-a-days) so all wont be lost :)
