ICO needs to be fixed.

ICO is contiuing to have huge problems. Today i made a 5v5, ICO sometimes would randomly kick the host, taking the game out of the lobby. This happended every single time a friend slot was used. It took 30 mins just to get a game into the lobby that actually worked.

I'm not seeing any problems in the error logs. Can you describe in more detail how to make this happen? Step by step please.

Thanks.

Hi Blair

To make the ico crash when you are trying to start a game it happens

1. when too many people join at the same

2. booting someone from the game

3. changing a slot to friend type

Also lately I've had more and more desync problems then ever.  I dont get the red desync error, but basically people are seeing different things in their screens. I suspect this is the reason for the crashes in game.

I have also seen some games in which a player name is "stuck" when forming up a game.  The player will be un-kickable and it will say the player is not logged in when you click his info button.  I don't think the player is actually there because the stuck ones never respond to chat and some have logged in on another name and be in the same game.

I have had this happen in one of my games as well!

I have 2 copies of the game (I know, I like it that much) And my friend and I enjoy playing in the same games but in different rooms online.  Durring one of my games I saw that my friend was playing like an idiot and I called over to him "What the ef ya doing?"  Turns out supposedly he was kickin the other guy's butt...  On my screen the guy was in my friend's Homeworld bombing with his cap and my friend's cap dead... On my friends screen, on the same game but in the other room, my friend was bombing the enemy homeplanet with the enemy's cap dead.  Regretfully ICO agreed with my screen and we lost the game.  My friend said he was winning the whole time....  The game crashed for my friend but it never said on my screen he crashed.... What happend?

We have a sync bug fix in the new patch (coming soon).  As for the other issues, I am unable to recreate them. I need a step by step way to guarantee the failure happens. If someone can help us figure those steps out it will be much easier to fix and I'll have another patch created for ICO right away.

Hi Blair

The ico crash only happens when too many people try to join the same game at the same time.  If we have 15 players wanting to play and a host creates a game, there is a mad rush to join the game quickly (this can crash it).  Then when host try to boot someone to create  room, multiple people would try to join the game, and the host will continue to boot until the desired person is in the game. This is when ico crashes.  Also turning the slot to friend doesnt help. It actually crashes the game too.

We have tried to slower the pace of people joining the game by creating a pw game.  We have noticed that his has helped.

Blair,

Step one, create game (usually with ALLOY enabled).

Step two, have someone join the game.

Step three, boot said person.

Step four, repeat step 2 & 3 until game lobby crashes.

Also, I have been getting Disconnected from ICO messages spuradiaclly while in game.  Basically means you are now playing with/against the AI.

Thanks,

Awesome thanks guys, we'll try and recreate the crashes based on that info and fix it up.

Today i have been getting a new problem, after about 5 mins into an online game i get a yellow message at the top of my screen saying disconected from Ironclad Online. There is no error message, nothing. it seems to replace the humans with ais. ive joined 4 games and 3 of them have done this.

Usually i start lagging (which i don't usually do) then i just disconnect.

this just started today. i have never seen anything like this before online.

This is the same problem I reported in reply #7.  It seems to target certain people, certain days, with what appears to be no ryhme or reason.  To my knowledge, nothing is wrong on your end.  YOu can reboot your machine, internet, and it still seems to target you.  Tomorrow, you'll probably be spared.

Anyway, what happens is that you are disconnected from ICO, period.  That means if you try to talk, no one will be able to hear you (either in game or using the /wf or /f commands).  I usually type "hello?" after getting the message and if I don't hear a reply in about 30 sec, I'll assume it was a real disconnect.  WHen you quit the game, you get booted all the way back to the login screen for ICO.

EDIT: And yes, it is quite annoying.  Especially when you got a good game going.

This problem is annoying. Happens after a server lag

1.  Network status shows players as lagging (though they have discconected)

2.  Even if all enemies have all disconnected or surrendered, game still continues due to the enemies allies

having players shown as lagging.

there are no chat channels, I'd say that's a problem for sure.
