I Am A QUITTER...

really.

Well, I'd love to say that I quit smoking, kicked my habit of beer binging, or even got over my love for fast food. But no, it's none of the above. I quit my current night shift and transferred back to days. I admit defeat, and admit to feeling a bit like a loser for tossing the towel.

See, I simply wasn't getting enough sleep. Whinge, whine, whatever, but I can't hack getting less than 5 hours. That's all there is to it. I was getting home (after shift at 6:30am and going to my parents' place, getting Kole up, ready and off for school by 8:30am) at about quarter to 9, and finally falling asleep around 10:00am. I'd then sleep as long as possible, and wake up by 2:15, jump in the shower and pick up Kole from the bus by 3:15pm. So if you do the math that equals out to 4:15 minutes on average that I was sleeping during the day, and then trying to get a nap in before work. And that's if things went according to plan. Basically, though, I was just sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. I hated being grumpy all the time because of a lack of sleep. I hated feeling nauseated when it was lunchtime at 3:00am, and I hated not seeing my friends.

So, call me a quitter. But, at my daughter's request even, I handed in my letter of transfer on Saturday. They said that it might only take a couple of days and then I'll be back on regular rotation. And it's back to doing 80+ calls a night, instead of my usual 30.

Bleahhhh!!!!

Well it was at your daughters request, so i'd say your more good parent, less quitter.

thanks... I couldn't fool myself and say that it was just me who had the issues about working nights. She hated it. I thought, at first that it would be the perfect set-up, but I was wrong in that the time that we did have together was wasted with me being crabby, and irritated. I know I'm not going to enjoy the day shift, but I will have more time on my hands, hopefully.
