Seems to Me

It seems to me that for the past several months, this site limps through the week and pretty much collapses every weekend.  Yep, I know of the new version is being worked on but that is a tired excuse.  With poor ID in FLA and Jafo on the other side of the planet how much can they be expected to fix? I never see other folks acknowledging the issue or responding the way Zoomba or Andrew used to do.  Maybe its just me!

Perhaps when this economy gets back on track

Black money in black banks will kill worlds economy. Just imagine from where that black money came... the process through which this black money was made is responsible a great deal for the failure of economy. For example mine is a poor country but if we get our black money back from those black banks every village(10-30 families) will get US $ 20 billion and that is enough to make everyone's needs(food, health, higher education etc) satisfied.

Black is darkness.

There has always been the problem with this site that visitors far outweigh subscribers. There have been calls for ways to get more people to subscribe, but as of yet, no-one has come up with a solution.

Without an influx of cash the site will continue to decay. It's like everything else - you get what you pay for.

Nothing in the world is problem-free except for pizza.

I got food poisoning because of a pizza once, there was definetely a problem with that one.

There was no problem...the germs found the pizza perfect.

She meant "Secretive" or "Illicit/Illegal". I'd just leave it at that and forget the rest. Fuzzy's right...language thing.

lol, I suppose there's always a way for someone/something to benefit from any problem making the issue relative... :D

There's always a choice, you may not always like the alternatives though. "Just a website" empowers you with the choice to visit or not visit. I avoid visiting alot of websites because I don't like how they are managed, even if there are things of interest to me there. It's my way of protesting. Every hit on a site is a form of encouragement. If the number of hits go down they either need to do something or will see their site slowly fade away. Everyone should do that imho.

That was kinda my point. It is your own choice. I have belonged to WC a long time. I used to come here at least 4 times a day or more. Now I only visit sporadically. Its a shame that the WC I remember no longer exists. Times change. People move on...skinning is no longer as popular as it once was...so Stardock has to use their resources where its needed the most. Its a business.

Glad u missed it.

Hahaha hogo resa

I understand but I can't subscribe right now. But more than visitors>> its 'downloads' that matter. You can allow limit maximum MB or GB of downloads in one year from a particular ip address without subscription.

Images used in site could be optimized.

You can make a lo-fi version too.

That is already the case.Unless you are a current customer or subscriber there is a download limit. Your profile says you have downloaded 0mb so far. If you were to download to the allowed limit, you will not be able to download anymore.

Yupsi, but this limit is by username. Unregistered users can still download. How you say how much an unregistered user downloads in a year. Most of times people will goog-land(land/come via google) and download.

These suggestions and more came up during the last subscription drive, and more speifically to a thread that Brad (aka Frogboy) made concerning the status of WC.  I think we will be seeing some changes when the new updated/upgraded WC site come on line.  At that time the subscribers will have to decide if whatever changes are made improve the site or not.

I tend to look at changes as things that happen and try to put them in perspective.  No doubt that the site has seen many changes since it first came on line.  For me, if the site provides access to free skins that are uploaded by members of the community and subscribers receive some benefit for subscribing than I will probably take whatever else happens in stride.

Bottom line, at 60 years old if I wake up in the mornig and see the sunrise, I can handle whatever else happens. :sun:

Please understand thet this is just my opinion and in no way invalidates yours.

It's catch 22. Without money from people who visit the site, the site won't improve. But, unless the site improves, the people who visit the site won't provide money.

Answers on a postcard...

If that is how people see the site, then that is all it will ever be.

Sometimes you just have to sit back and accept things...you know the reality of the situation. The powers that be are the one that decide. You have been here longer...you know it will never be the way it once was. I remember when it was hard to log on in the mornings because their was so much traffic. You had to wait until half went to work to get a ' seat ' I'm still here but I know that one little voice can't change a thing. The majority of the visitors just come and scoop up what they need and breeze on by. I always paid my way. Whether I needed to or not. It is what it is.  I still prefer this site.

A passive position is certainly better than frustration for one's state of being.  Every now and then though, it becomes frustrating to remain passive! (heheheheheheh), especially in a catch 22 situation.

Patience is not passive; on the contrary, it is active; it is concentrated strength. :-"

It's family and friends.

Your family and friends are getting the run around.
