Does Anyone know of a way to resize Effects?

Hi,

I am re-sizing some ships and planets and stars for a mod i am working on, and ran into a problem. If i re-size much beyond what might seem reasonable, like say above 10 times, or below 10 times, the effects do not match the ships of course. My question is, is there a way to re-size these effects, like beam weapons, or missiles, or ability effects that were sized for the normal sized ships to something which is now larger or smaller?

Thanks for any suggestions or ideas,

Take care,  :)

i went and converted the particle the particle effect i wanted to change from binary to txt. then i messed around until i figured out what the heck things did. i successfully achieved the result. i slolwed down"adaptive shield" increased its total radius to 20,000 and gave it more particles. it looks cool now.

Ahhhh.... okie dokie, thank you for the tip. I tried converting to text with the other files in the gameinfo folder, but it didnt convert, i guess i will have to do a one on one and see if that works. Thanks for the help. Take care,

As Eviliron said, if you look at the text version of the particle files you'll notice that they reference mesh files or graphic TGAs. Meshs can be re-sized (using the resize tool) and graphics are easily enough done in Photoshop or Gimp.

I've just created new particle effects by copying existing files and simply reference different meshes or TGA graphics.

Ahhhh... thank you Jason, appreciate it. Its a new area to me, i was thinking if i couldnt get the planets much larger than 10 times, that i could shrink the ships and buildings and effects to balance it.

Actually shrinking them stopped when i could do the meshes, but didnt know how to appropriately re-size the effects. I will give this a try and let you know. Thanks again, take care,
