Oh Dear Oh Dear

PARK TIGERS U14'S BROUGHT DOWN TO EARTH WITH A BUMP - A VERY BIG BUMP

Hi Guys
Sorry for the delay, but we have had no end of computer troubles this last week. I wouldn't have minded so much if it was the "Old" Computer, but, of course it couldn't be that one could it? Our shiny new HP computer ground to an annoying halt, when the graphics card decided that it wanted to "Go to Sleep" and close down the monitor, even whilst the rest of the computer quite happily got on with what we really wanted it to do.
So the new computer has gone back from whence it came and, as a temporary measure, I have had to "refit" the old computer and lash up an Internet connections to be able to do anything on the Internet that we would want to do.
It could be said by some, possibly me included, that there was a certain amount of justice in the score today. The lads were maybe to cocky from their past successes this year.
But there was something for certain, they were definitely not up to the required standard

Park Tigers 2 - Broughton 3
·
All the words below, are only a Parents' opinion of what he sees.
And what he saw this week was not nice
·
Man of the Match - Big Ben Romney
·
It did look, from the outset, that the Broughton team were going to be several levels better than some of the teams that the U14's had already faced. And the match, or least way it's beginning, proved to be obviously the case.

1st Half

OH DEAR
The Broughton attack soon wrought the Tigers defence asunder. Within a few minutes of the start the Broughton visitors were very quickly a single goal up, and quite rightly so. The Tigers, at that point were lack lustre and slow. There was no commitment, not "get up and go"
And, not for the first time, we all heard manager Chris's voice boom out across the field.
He was not a happy bunny.

And his demeanor was not to improve by any great amount as the match wore on.
But more of that later.·
1 - 0
For a short while, it seemed that everything would go Broughton's way. They piled on the pressure. But, this time, the defence held.
And then a shaft of light burst thorough the gloom. The Tigers got a Free Kick not far from the Broughton Penalty Box. Josh came up to take the kick, and bent the ball over the heads of the Broughton Wall and into the back of the net.
1 - 1·
The cheers didn't last for long. It wasn't long before another Broughton attack saw a header, placed to the center top of the goal go right passed a slightly lost Liam, to give the Broughton team their single goal advantage back
1 - 2
And then things got a whole lot worse. Broughton attacked yet again. Our Liam () made the first save. And , in the attempt to get off the floor, he very nearly got the second kick.

Nearly

But not near enough
the ball went into the net yet again. Liam's face was a picture of anger (both with himself and the rest of the team)
But a single look at Chris said it all. You could tell that happy was NOT the word that applied. He had gone very quiet (which is usually an indication that Chris is not very happy) And his face said it all.
1 - 2
That was then half time. Chris's half time talks are never "soft".
But this time???
I certainly wouldn't want to be on the end of that conversation.
And the tigers deserved every syllable of the tirade that was unleashed.
They needed something to get them going.
And a "Kick up the backside" was appropriate on this occasion.

2nd Half

Did the start of the second half herald an upturn in the Tigers' fortunes

DID IT HELL

Very quickly the Broughton team almost gained a three goal advantage to Broughton.
The ball was crossed into the Tigers Goal area. The ball was struck and our Liam, in the goal, was left to fall, face first into the dirt.
But then the Ref blew - Goal disallowed
The assembled parents didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
This was definitely one of those games that Parents could do without
Then, all of a sudden, the Tigers seemed to pick up the pace. All to late of course, but the effort was welcome none the less.
Liam Bontoft ( BONNY - BONNY - BONNY )played the ball down the center, and then over the goalkeeper.

GGGOOOAAALLLLL
2 - 3·
The tigers attack seemed to take over, just about. Big Ben was all over the pitch. Two of his shoots on goal where forced over the cross bar and then deflected by the "paint" on the post.
The attacks, from both sides just kept coming.·
But, as I said early, there just wasn't enough time for the Tigers to come back. And out of the window went the Tigers 100 % record (although it was only a slight dent on the Goal difference - But that is just not the point)
And, if you thought that the half time team talk was "strong", you should have heard the "After Match" Managers appraisal. Serious. Brutal. To the point. And, as with the half time talk, the Lads deserved every word of it..
Let's hope next weeks Cup Match shows some improvement on what has happened this week?·
Many thanks for taking the time to read my log. It is nice to know that I am not talking to myself ·
