That exprience trinket, or whatever its called...

Not, sure what its called, but I have a question regarding the trinket that takes up the last slot, and that you can get at the start, and seems to use different points.

I been playing several games with just Remulus and I bought like 3 trinkets, and started using just one of them... Then I changed characters, and played online a bit...

Now when I check the trinket at the start, the 3 aren't "purchased" anymore...

Can someone explain to me how this works?

you buy favor items (the ones that are in the last slot) with favor point that you gain while playing.

You conserve your favor items/points from match to match

But

there are different totals between single and multiplayer (and maybe between the different online modes)

And on top of that the system is broken so that points arent correctly saved between online matches.

currently at least for me when I gained favor points in single player (I had all favor items), played mutliplayer for a bit, now single player favor points were non existant. I played for sometime aquired some items, went back to multiplayer and they are messed up there again. Seems single player and multiplayer favor points are not kept track of seperatly and something to due with multipler it doesn't like to use the single player aquired favor points. Its a bug and many ppl have talked about it. Hopefully it will be fixed after the multiplayer connectivity issues are fixed.

If you stick to one mode either single player or multiplayer I don't think the bug is exposed, but I have not played enough to confirm this.

glad to hear that i am not the only one experiencing this bug, so at least we know on what the devs will work once the netcode is clean

mine did tazzx....

They're not supposed to.

mine didn't carry to multiplayer either from what i understand its not supposed to, but it defiantly shouldn't be resetting em either if you jump back and forth between multiplayer and singleplayer like it is now.

Mine didn't transfer over, but when I had enough points in multiplayer, the ones that I purchased in single player showed up as purchased in multiplayer.  I haven't purchased a single favor item in MP but I have 4 of them unlocked.  The same 4 I did purchase in SP.  They just became available when I had enough points in MP.

I believe if you log into multiplayer, then go back, but stay logged in, and play single player, teh favour points and items carry over.

I believe they are also Demigod specific.   I.e. if you buy something with Unclean beast, you won't have it when you play Sedna...at least that has been my experience.

There are 3 separate pools for Favor.

  1. Single Player
  2. Multiplayer LAN
  3. Multiplayer Custom/Skirmish/Pantheon (Internet).

There is also a [BUG] with Multiplayer Custom/Skirmish/Pantheon in which items you've purchased will be lost and favor you've gained will go missing along with the ability to go negative in favor.  None of those things are suppose to happen, but 8C they do.

Favor

  • Having three seperate pools is confusing the the end user.
    • How many favor points do I have?
    • Why do I no longer have X item?
  • Having the UI show the gold/money icon when it does not cost gold is confusing.
    • Does this cost gold?
    • Does it cost favor the first time and gold the second?
    • Does this cost gold and favor?
  • Having a previously purchased item show a gold/favor cost is also confusing.
    • Does this cost gold now?
    • Do I have to purchase every time I want to use it?
  • Not being able to look at all favor items after purchasing one is annoying.
    • How much did X favor item cost?
    • What did Y Favor Item do?
    • Granted, making this change might lead people to believe they can get a diffrent one or swap/change items in a game.
  • Not having a place to look at what your currently gained favor pool is, is bad.
    • It would be nice to have your current favor listed some place so you don't have to start a game to see how much you have.

You can cheat and set your multiplayer LAN favor to what ever you want via modifying the files in Demigod.  This will not effect your online/internet favor.

Favor is not demigod specific.

Epochs

  • Currently Demigod is in Epoch 0.
  • Once the patheon is *won* I believe they plan to reset everyone's purchased favor items and favor amounts.
  • Epoch 1 will then begin.
    • Brad has posted that in Epoch 1, you will no longer be able to gain favor by playing custom games (just Skirmish &  Pantheon games.

Personal

I personally hope that in Epoch 1, if you play in a custom game ALL favor items will be accessable (or you'll be able to set that as an option).  This would give players a place to try out and practice to see which favor items they like.  This would also make it so there is only two favor pools, Single player and Multiplayer which I think would be far less confusing than the current setup.

I have not played lan yet, but I have played sp and mp modes. I had all the single player favor items. I played multiplayer. I went back to single player and all my favor items are now not purchased and favor points in single player are matching favor points in multiplayer. This is not seperate pools, but I really do believe it was intended to be seperate.
