This program sucks cow patties!!!

I have a huge problem with this program, it just won't uninstall. I've stopped it from running at startup, stopped all of the processes that I can find associated with it, and this piece of crap just won't uninstall. I have a compaq presario c700 running vista ultimate 3g ram , and thought I'd try this instead of the free fully functioning DreamScene. But didn't like the program because it froze and restarted my machine and changed all of my display settings incorrectly. the animations were worse than setting my own cropped version of a converted web video as the desktop background. I even tried to purchase through the impulse online option, but even that is screwed up.  I used to love windows blinds on my lower end machines years ago, but they really sauced this program. If i have any luck with a 3rd party uninstaller I will post here.... good luck to all the newcomers, and be forwarned this program is as bad as a virus!

*sigh* Saying it's a "piece of crap" like you do is 100% useless. Stardock has great software support available for these kind of issues. There's even a separate uninstaller for the Object Desktop software available if you had bothered to ask for some help before bashing on the software like a big baby. Quite frankly, posts like these are in many ways worse than viruses, as they don't really provide anything for anyone.

I've had no trouble whatsoever with deskscapes. Not with installing, running or uninstalling. I would think your troubles are related to some other installed software, like registry cleaners, optimization software or some other unreliable junk that break your computer. It usually is...

Revo uninstaller seems to have doen the trick, problem is my display is still screwed, I'm afraid I will ahve to reinstall the drivers uuggghhh!!! Beware, DO NOT UNINSTALL IMPULSE FIRST!!! it is needed to uninstall deskscapes.

If you run the object desktop uninstaller, there's no need for impulse.

Perhaps you should just stick to playing solitaire... >_>

I have a huge problem with this program,
Key word there is "I" Most people using Vista have no trouble at all running DeskScapes. It runs flawlessly on my rig(Ultimate32bit).The forums and/or support would have been happy to try to sort out your issue. Did you ask for help anywhere? That would have been the logical thing to do.

I even tried to purchase through the impulse online option
Why would you do that before seeking help for your problem to see if there was a solution? That's what the trial is for after all.

If i have any luck with a 3rd party uninstaller I will post here
Don't bother,we already have your opinion and the "newcomers" can decide for themselves what works or doesn't work on their computers.

Btw,it's WindowBlinds not "windows blinds"

Edit: from reading your second post it sounds like a display/driver problem, not a DeskScapes issue.

If your running Vista Ultimate, you should have downloaded and installed the free version of DeskScapes that was created to go along with Microsoft's dreamscene.

Get Revo uninstaller free on the net. Uninstall. Reboot.

If you have a problem, take two aspirins, and don't call me in the morning.

wow, with all of the "EXPERTS" responding, it's no surprise to me that none of the replies are helpful or informative. You'd think that me being the "NOVICE" on the "scene" that the more experienced members would have been able to help me, but instead you all turn out to be forum surfing fanboys. You would think that someone would reply who actually has vista ultimate, had the same or similar problem, and a possible workaround. But I got exaclty what I expected a bunch of monkeys trying to pound out shakespeare on their new netbooks. You would think that one person would recomend using a third party uninstaller because this program associates itself in every way with the personalization of the desktop including registry keys and display settings and does a poor job at it at that. Also you'd think that someone would have posted that in order to get Dreamscene working properly again that one would have to first disable the application from starting, disable it as a windows feature, uninstall the update, then reinstall it, rebooting after each step in order to get Dreamscene operational again. Thanks for all of your unhelpful responses I'm sure you all have more posts to answer to with more unintelligent banter so any mod can feel free to close this as my issues have been resolved without the help of the ususal suspects!

Tone is usually answered in kind.  You can't *really* be surprised, can you?

  • How did you install it?
  • What version did you install?
  • Where did you install it from?
  • Did you get errors when you tried to uninstall?

Nowhere in your OP did you ask for help, advice or any helpful input. You came to bash the software without any such request and stated that you had already found a way to uninstall it in your second post. If you would like to try again, both with DeskScapes and forum help, please feel free to do so.:sun:

Sheesh....didn't even gimme a banana.

Wiz...he wasn't asking for help...just "Hey this free suff is supposed to everything for me. It didn't and I'm P.O.'d. I take no responsibility. Fix it for me. It sucks."

You want help? Try asking nicely for it. No? Exit to the right.

comments like that., no., becouse of people like that i admire the moderator of this forum and the Stardock support staff., what a pain in the ass is to handle with this kind of jerks all the day.., people who the first thing instead of asking for help they start direct attacks over the software that in first place they are just testing and not buying it...,  but i guess it is less worst than talking at phone with them :X

Well, it is Friday and thats when most threads like this one shows up in the forums.  Mondays would be a much better day, gives folks the next four days to try and help (talking about identifing a problem as you go into the weekend).  Yes I know you can't pick the days that problems will occur.

I wonder if the OP send an email to  [email protected] to ask for assistance and or help?  Looks like we may never know.

Actually it's usually just easier to let Revo do it for you.  All the keys created by DeskScapes are stored in HKLM\Software\Stardock and HKCU\Software\Stardock.  Removing the DeskScapes entries here is more than enough.  All other keys are created by Windows for things like class libraries (for the .dream extension, etc.)

Also you'd think that someone would have posted that in order to get Dreamscene working properly again that one would have to first disable the application from starting, disable it as a windows feature, uninstall the update, then reinstall it, rebooting after each step in order to get Dreamscene operational again.

Sounds like a roundabout way to do things, and I'm not sure what Windows Feature you disabled, but if it works for you, great!  If for some reason you do happen to uninstall Impulse before the applications installed through it in the future (not sure why you would do this if DeskScapes is what's causing issues) you can use the following removal tool to uninstall the application:

http://sd.stardock.com/mike/apps/odnt_zapper.exe

Also, for future reference, I would suggest describing the problem you're having first if you want help, as opposed to immediately drawing parallels to cow excrement.
