Yay! This gives me at least a weak excuse to restart the game I'm currently playing, since my strategy has gotten somewhat scatterbrained...

Brad & Co: what time zone are you guys in? It's MIDNIGHT here... if you're releasing patches at midnight, well... wow, is all I can say. :D

How do you update the game to 1.02? Stardock only shows the history file for it, but wont let me update from 1.01

Click on tools->Refresh data.

BTW, this build is a bit of a beta. It should be stable but the AI may need more tweaking. I tried to make it "easier" on normal.

"I tried to make it 'easier' on normal."

Would that have anything to do with a certain, um, review? ;)

BTW, Brad, here's an irrelevant question for you if you aren't busy (;)): is there some sort of science to determining what the version number is going to be? What made this update become 1.02.036... and having become 1.02, shouldn't that have reset the following decimals to something like 1.02.00? Or do you just pick a slightly bigger number at random? I wonder that about almost all games, not just your's. :)

Yea, unfortunately the revision numbers don't reset presently when a version is changed. I'm going to request that.

Almost forgot, another thing we'll need to keep an eye on is how trading techs for X per turn for Y months works out now that it's not revesing the cost.

As long as on bright or intelligent people aren't able to cream the AI on decent sized maps then things shoudl be okay.

The ONLY way i can get my game to update properly is if i DONT install the bonus pack. If i install the bonus pack i can never update again :(

"And I might add Stardock has updated me perfectly each and EVERY time."

Forgetting my horrible DL speed issues with the actual game install, I haven't had any problems with the updates, either. :)

I am unable to update through the Stardock as well. I have the Bonus Pack installed.

Im using Stardock Central 0.99e 156, build 6 and I can't see the new update (1.2)... What I see as installed is GalCiv 1.01.029 and Windowed Version 1.01a.99 - but when I load GalCivW.exe it still says Im running version 1.01... Why is this so complicated ? Why not the usual standard method of having a zip or exe file on a server !? Piracy ? Bandwidth ?

Make sure you have show alphas/betas turned off and then do tools->refresh data.

Why do we use SDCentral? Because it's easier for us to put updates. Do you think there'd be an update put up at 11pm on a Friday night if we had to submit the files to an installerteam?

There will be a stand alone update patch next week.

Those having problems with SDC.. did you remember to check to see if your serial number is still in the system? Installing something or other wiped the serial number for me and I couldn't find anything until I put that back in. I don't recall exactly how it is done, but there is a right click maneuver involved on one of the menu items at the top.. should have something to do with your profile or somesuch thingy..

OK, I retraced my steps.. right click on the tab that says Drengin.net and choose "accounts". Should be very simple to see what to do from there.
