Lord Ralph: Can you please send the save game to me? both .sav and the corresponding folder.

Cotal: If you have the save game, I'd like to see it.

If you conquer a planet that has a Galactic Wonder on it, and you delete the project, you can't rebuild the project anywhere else. Also, I don't think you lose the benefit of the project either, even though no one has it now.

The problem: I start a game, and I save it. I can re-load the game all I want inside of Galciv, but if I exit and restart, the game is lost. It will never load again. This happens every time without fail. I end up with no choice but to keep playing in order to keep from losing the game.

I'm not sure if I'll continuing playing if I can't even stop playing long enough to sleep without losing everything I did.

I will agree with post #29--I've also got an Radeon 9700 and see no colors for sector ownership.

Not exactly a bug but it doesn't seem right. Two empires fought a war mostly in my space, although I was not a participant in the war.

Finally one of the empires surrendered to me. That was the last of hostilities. The ships simply stayed where they were. The damaged ones weren't recalled for repair. Ancient stuff wasn't scrapped.

The war was before the battleship era. The junk was still cluttering up my space when I was sending out terror stars.

Expected Results:The trade good you previously traded for should be available from your trading goods list.Actual ResultsThe trade good is not available. If you go back and look at the minor civilization, the trade good is no longer available.
End of quote

Sjlb:

That's how it's supposed to work. You cannot trade (sell) a technology that you are LICENSING from another civilization. Remember, when bartering for a trade good, you are only bartering for a license to use the technology.

CariElf, I'd send it to you except for the fact I over-wrote it (I think), I'll double check when I get a chance . . . I just thought the Cartotids (sp?) had some kinda 'hyper-nano-astro-ultra dingdong and dingeling' defence system. If I can't find the save I'll try and re-emulate it. Thanks :)

CariElf - In a fit of anger, I deleted all of the save games and the game itself. However, I can send you all of my games here at home (since I have the same problem here)

One note - I am using custom made parties. I am including the bonus parties.party file, else it really will not load (nothing else is changed)

Another problem - the problem with the AI always leaving their ships in place. I had something like 40 - 50 ships sitting in one spot (Dregin), and they cluttered up the area horribly. Also, I've had problems where aliens can talk to me and even declare war when I do not have a Universal Translator, but without one, I cannot ask for a peace treaty.

Got what looks like a variant on the terror star movement bug.

I had a fleet of 6 terror stars and I decided to see what this movement bug was about--I stuck a ranger in there.

After loading the game the results were quite strange. Ok, the extra movement showed up as expected. However, there was a lot more:

1) I ordered the entire fleet to move all the way across the map. It did *NOT* behave in anything like a reasonable fashion.
a) The *SAME* (precursor, not built, in case it makes any difference) ranger moved with several of the terror stars when they were moving. It would then teleport back and move with another one.
b) The terror stars moved separately other than this bit of dragging the ranger with them. However, when one terror star finished it's move in a square where another one was, the other might move *AGAIN*. One terror star crossed the entire medium map in two turns.
c) Terror stars affected by b retained their "autopilot" status but would no longer move on their own. They could be selected and moved normally, though.
2) When they all got where they were going and the planets in the vicinity had revolted I sent them off again. Oops--there's only the ranger and one terror star. The others existed on the main screen but not in the icons. Nor could they be formed into a fleet.

3) I don't know if this has any relationship to the terror star probelm or not. The terror stars of course flipped everything nearby. The AI was left bleeding $2000/month supporting his stupid fleet. (Really now--defenders?! Maybe 5% of it was battleships, nothing beyond that. Most was battleaxes and frigates.) I had well past $100k, he was in the hole like $40k. Whose #1 in the treasury department, though?! He is!

Has anyone ever remarked that Colony ships seem to have +1 speed on the turn that they reach their destination star system, but only if moving automatically?

Has anyone else noticed the unusual lease rates charged by Terran Manufacturing. (2nd line down - 1st line with a monthly payment)

I have just encountered a very annoying bug. I am trying to send a freighter to a YOR planet to trade but every time I do the game CTD. I have 2 available trade routes left. I did try sending the freighter to a different YOR planet and it did the same thing. If you want the save game let me know who to send it to.

I have the latest v1.05.071 installed from Stardoc Central. I have not had any significant problems other than some of the minor issues reported in this thread. I have successfully played about 10 games with this version.

I've seen the same sort of thing. The Altairians (it's *always* the Altairians...) had a sector with three systems in it. Then along came TaBok the party-palace magnate. One by one the systems defected to my side, ejecting the Altairian ships into space, where they sat...until the end of the game...

Loren: it's your monitor brightness.  I'll check into the terror star thing and mention the lazy ships to Brad.

Bradley@Maple: please send the save game to me, both the .sav file and the corresponding folder.  [email protected] and please include a reminder in the subject or body of the e-mail telling me what I'm supposed to be looking for.

I think that the reason that they may be sitting there is because their weren't choosing a new homeworld, so they may have been trying to go home, but getting blocked because you now owned their stars.  So I just now  put code in the defect function to make sure that they will choose a new homeworld.

There seems to be a problem with the Planet list. It is not being updated between turns. For example, in the Planet list, Earth will indicate that a colony ship will be built in 2 turns. But, if I click on Sol, and look at Earth it will say that the colony ship will be built in 1 turn. Another example: the Planet list will have Earth's morale as 98. I want it at 100, so I go to the Domestic screen and lower the Tax Rate until the morale is at 100. But, when I go back to the Planet list to check it, Earth's morale is still at 98. In order to get the Planet list to update, I have to cycle through all of my planets. This is in the stand alone update, version 1.05. Thanks for your help. :)

Referencing the Planet list again, another thing I've noticed is that when I get more than seven planets, the scroll bar doesn't show up. So, I can't scroll down to see what is happening with those newer planets. In other words, I'm only able to see seven planets in the Planet list. This makes the game most difficult to play as I check this list on every turn. I'm only able to see what is going on by cycling through every planet individually. Thanks again. :)

Saving the game, quitting and restarting seems to have fixed my problem, so ... nevermind. Thanks anyway and especially thank you for this very fun and addictive game! :D

Late game I got a CTD when I looked at the espionage report for the Altarians and then clicked on the "Show Routes" button. Debug.err doesn't seem to show anything out of the ordinary.

rockville: it's a known issue.  The button was supposed to be hidden until the expansion pack comes out, but we missed it.

Actually my post #318 is still true. The Planet list simply does not reflect what is being indicated on each planet. The Military Production is wrong, the Social Production is wrong, the Morale is wrong. I can live with it, but I think it should be fixed. Thanks.

Here's another weird problem...

I have Stardock Central installed at home (for playing) and work (for reading posts in lieu of actually doing work).

Stardock Central had a new update a few days ago. Both computers indicated that they were updating SDC.

At work, running Win 2000 Advanced Server, SDC is Build 18. However, at home, running Win98SE, my Stardock Central is "build 16", even AFTER going into add/remove programs and selecting "Repair".

What's going on here? Is build 18 Win2000-specific? Or is something else wrong?

In my latest submission I experienced these 4 bugs:
1. Culture Countdown did not start
After the Drengin surrendered to me, I owned 98,6% of the galaxy and the victory conditions list showed 12 month. However, I did not get the message that it's one year to go, neither the countdown counted down until I reloaded a savegame.
2. The music stopped playing
I had this in the game before... where I played as evil aswell... So it seems it only happens with the evil music. After reloading it worked again. That was the same reload that made cultural countdown start.
3. Last-Turn-Save of Cultural Victory not working
After finishing the game, I connected to the internet and loaded the savegame. Hitting end turn did not work. The clock appeared but nothing else... Then I loaded a selfmade savegame of earlier in the same turn. It worked, but as we all know, culture is miscalculated after loading and so it took 2 turns longer.
4. Wrong Intelligence in submission
The submission screen said:
Drengin: Bright
Torians: Beginner
Yor: Beginner
Altarians: Fool
Arceans: Fool
But actually the Torians and the Yor were Sub-Normal and not beginner.
