Carney, a number of people have reported that. I'm sure they'll get to working on that one as soon as they can.

Crash bug. Consistent. Works every time.

After updating to the latest version (1.05 etc.) using Stardock, I went to play a game. Got my civ going nicely (wasn't even in the game for 5 minutes), went to set my Governor to force all my colonies to create Soil Enhancement projects, and it crashed to the desktop. No warning, no errors, just crash. Didn't seem to harm my system at all (Windows 2000, all the latest OS updates), so I tried again. Went through all the same motions, and once again, when I tried to add Soil Enhancement to the Governor's build queue, it crashed. This poses a serious problem, wouldn't you say? Kinda takes all the fun out of macro-management. ;)

I have the same issue as TaBok for v1.05.

CTD after the new game loads to 100%. Same for 1.04 saved games.
Could be related to the Goverener crash stated here.

Well it was reported several times already but not in this thread :) in 1.05.068 double clicking on structure in governor screen (to add it to governor queue) crashes the game 100% :(

Another UI crash bug in 1.05. On the espionage window w/advanced knowledge, there's a button that says "total routes"...I clicked on it and the game CTD'd.

There are lots of these in debug.err, nothing else suspicious:
"ASSERT ERROR in file G:\PROJECTS\pear\SOURCE\MWIN.CPP at line 397."

I recently updated to the newest patch on Stardock, 1.05.69 I think, and now Galactic Civilizations won't even start up. If i try to start from the Menu when you put the CD in it makes the screen go black and then go straight back to my desktop and the same happens when using the Desktop Shortcut.

Okay. Since my last post, I uninstalled GalCiv, and deleted the directory (reasoning that maybe the problem had to do with mod files). I reinstalled it, then updated at Stardock.

This time, I got CTD as soon as I clicked "Play Game"!!!

One time that this happened, I got an empty window titled "Flash". Hmm...

SmartException report for my new crash...

Okay.

Uninstalled, then reinstalled and used the downloadable patch. CTD after hitting "Play Game".

Uninstalled.

Reinstalled. No updates this time. CTD after hitting "Play Game".

Oh, and Stardock won't authenticate my credentials now, so I can't download the patches anyway. Grr.

My only conclusion is that the latest patches added a registry entry that is gumming everything up. However, I'm not going to reinstall Windows tonight.

Last SmartException output, pretty much the same as before:

Typed my CD Key into Stardock again and it let me register, so at least that's not a problem.

Running GalCiv in Windowed mode on a 32-bit desktop causes an immediate exit. There is no error message stating that the GalCiv must be run on a 16-bit color desktop.

Hi, sometimes my science verse and other ships won't do what thier told to do like auto scout and auto attack. When I come back to them a few years later they listen again? Anyone had this happen to them? :)

I don't know if this has anything to do with the CTD that I, as well as many other people, are having at the 100% mark of starting a new game (or reloading an old one), but when I run GalCiv in a window, it shows the version as 1.04. Maybe this is a problem? I'm running (or trying to run) 1.05.069.

Bill

(Yes, I know that the windowed version has been rolled into the main executable, and is no longer a separate entity.)

Two very minor glitches:

Last night I finished a game on my laptop offline. The metaverse submission screen game up and I submitted to see what would happen. Almost immediately, it told me my score had been reported though obviously it hadn't. (Screen returned immediately) No big deal since I was able to report my score this morning.

Here's on I thought was funny - the Drendin declared war on me for attacking there ally. I had eliminated them several turns before.

I'm not concerned about either, but I thought I'd report them in case you were interested. Great job with the game - it just keeps getting better.

Minor bug I noticed in 1.05.068 and 069. After doing a military unit swap on the governers screen, the first time I hit F2 to bring up the planets side screen it isn't refreshed with the new data yet. I need to then hit F2 a second time, to get the planet screen to reflect the new changes.

This was all done without the planets screen up when I did the military swap. Not sure if it refreshes correctly if the planets screen is up when you do the unit swap.

1.05.069

In the attempt to fix the refresh behavior of the F2 Planet list screen when changing spending sliders, it got broken in all the others. Now, unless you switch to another right hand screen and back to it, it never refreshes. I noticed this when I was getting messages for completed projects that were still clearly showing *turns* left in the F2 screen.

After having the CTD when trying to start any new games in 1.05, I reinstalled the original version and upgraded to 1.04. This fixed any issues I had.

However, after trying to upgrade to 1.05.069 again using stardock cental v1.01a.075 I get the same CTD. again.

Conclusion: The .069 version fixed the governor issue that some people had. For the rest of us who can't get a game to start, there is still a serious bug. Either the bug is with the game version OR the stardock version I am using but am not sure which. In any case I do not recommend anyone upgrades to 1.05 until we get an official fix from the devs, which probably won't be too long (I hope)...

I can always go back to 1.04 but prefer to use the new stuff in 1.05 :(

Three bugs in 1.05.69:

1) Something broken in planetlist's refreshing. Planetlist now refreshes interactively when the mil/soc/research sliders are changed if the planetlist if being shown. However, if the planetlist is NOT being shown when changing sliders then planetlist shows the old build times when it is later activated. Clicking once for each planet updates the information, but is way annoying.. This bug seems to occur in some other situations also.

2) In one game Drengin surrendered to me early in the game, before i had even met them or researched universal translator.

3) When playing mp3 playlists the music often stops. Any event with special 'ingame' music, like trade screen, will resume mp3 music, but overall things work better turning the music off from the game and using stereos instead ;)

I was playing a small map with four of the five alien races and abundant habitable planets. Towards the end game, the Dread Lords came on the scene. Somehow, by manipulating the bc slider (I kind of kept moving it up and down testing to see what they would go for) when negotiating with them for a trade, I was able to get them to part with all of their 145,000 bc for a single tech! :D

Now, as much as I liked that one, it's probably a bug.

When intersecting a starbashe ga with a mixed fleet of
combat ships and construcors, the starbase construction
dialog does not open. Removing the escort and using only the constructors work. Not sure whether this is the intended behaviour.
