Custom map

I downloaded one map and then can't figure how to play it.  I put the files in Galaxy directory (of both Entrenchment and original of the latest version) but still not work.  I tried to put them in the user directory still no go (C:\users\users\appdat\ironclad\sins...).  I tried to look for answers on the forum but found none.  This is one of the least user friendly game.  I think it should be really easy; download the map and drop it in map directory.

the correct location for galaxy forge maps in xp is C:\Documents and Settings\'user name'\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge
and for vista /windows 7 it is C:\Users\'user name'\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge

the two folders after the user name are hidden folders so you need to click on the tools then folder options then the view tab qand make sure that the 'hidden files and folders' is set to 'show hidden files and folders' then click on ok

these instructions are for sins 1.16 and entrenchment 1.02 for earlier sins/entrenchments the correct location is in the sins/galaxy folder and for entrenchment 1.00 & 1.01 you also need to alter/replace the galaxy.manifest file. I have written a little prorgram to fix all galaxy.manifests so that all maps are available you can download it from here

I am playing Entrenchment 1.02.  I treid what you said; tt is still not working.  Should I tried to update the galaxy.manifest?

the galaxy manifest is NOT used in entrenchment 1.02 also there are 5 map groups to cycle through, ie small,medium,large, map designer, and galaxy forge.

all of the maps in the galaxyforge folder show up in the galaxy forge map group all of the maps created with the map designer are stored in the map designer folder and show up in the map designer group

I agree that a folder under my documents\my games would have been easier to find and use, BUT this is what ironclad chose

did you see the galaxy in the galaxy forge folder?

if you did, but it not seen in entrenchment that suggests that the map is an earlier version an would need to be run through the map updater to fix the map upto version 3 for sins 1.15+ & entrenchment. you can download the latest version of the map updater from here

I finally got it to work.  I used your updater version two to convert the map.  Thanks.
