I was soooo nervous my palms were sweaty.
I've been having dinner at my boyfriend's quite alot of times. And it's always either him or his Dad who cooks. And as his Dad is chinese we often eat the tastiest best chinese dishes you could think of. When my boyfriend is cooking though, his Dad complains that there's not enough ginger, or the vegetables are chopped too thick, or stuff like that, when i actually think he must have got some take away from the best restaurant in town and thrown the food in the pot to pretend he cooked it! So yeh, no wonder i was nervous...
Anyway, after remembering all this times i ate over there, i thought i should return the favour. I cooked for my boyfriend already b4. But never for his dad. And yesterday afternoon i called my boyfriend:
Me: 'Hi! how bout i cook tonite?'
Him: 'Yeah ok'
Me' 'At your place?'
Him '...'
Me 'Are you there?'
Him ' yeah yeah, are you sure?'
Me 'Hum... Yeah i think so..'
Him 'Ok i'll call Dad and tell him not to bring anything for tonight's dinner. I pick you after work?'
Me 'Yep ok, byebye'
I thought about all the fancy dishes i could try, but since i didnt want to go experimental, i decided i'd cook spaghetti bolognaise. You see, you cant go wrong with bolognaise. It's easy & quick to fix but still nice.
It only took me 15mns to prepare dinner. And here's the awkward moment at the first bite. I looked at my boyfriend, who looked at me almost as nervous as i was. When i was cooking he had tasted a little bit complimenting me, and then saying 'mmh it's nice, but what if after dinner we all get sick???' Charming isnt he?
But thank god, his dad loved it (or was being polite??) and finished the last bits he could find on his plate.
And no one got sick

My boyfriend's family has always been nice to me, and i'm thankful for that. We've known each other for more than a year but that was like a big step for me...
