Veers was a superb soldier. HE was steadfastly loyal to the Empire and he rose above his peers by completing suicide mission he was never expected to survive. HE was eventually recognized by Vader himself, and promoted to major general. From there, he served with distinction on many battlefields, and finally found himself on Hoth. Derek 'Hobbie' Klivian proceeded to crash his damaged snowspeeder into the cockpit of the AT AT Veers was commanding, and as a result Veers lost both legs. He was confined to a hoverchair, but still continued to serve the Empire.
Then his son defected to the Rebellion, and Veers was forced to live with the ridicula and shame despite his illustrious and loyal military career. He never deserted the Empire; always returning to it's Remnant, wherever it was. He was always shunned, because of his association with Vader, even as he tried his hardest to uphold the Empire he loved and served. Eventually, after being demoted to Captain by the insane and inept Sedriss, he was sent on a final mission. Maximilian Veers, one of the Empire's greatest ground tacticians and heroes, perished on that fateful suicide mission, thrown away by the same Empire he had always loyally devoted his life to.
