Theft and resale of Treetog's Copper Deck Theme!!!

http://forums.crackberry.com/f131/ion-kd-storm-edition-187502/

Hey,

This guy is cutting up treetog's Copper Deck theme and selling it on http://forums.crackberry.com/f131/ion-kd-storm-edition-187502/.  As well as another graphic designers icons, I've seen them before but can't remember who did them.

It is being sold as a Blackberry Storm theme.  This guy just doesn't get it, if he gets away with this, all the hard work of the skinners her at Wincustomize will be used on crackberry.com.  This must stop now!  The work of the designers needs to be respected.

Thanks,

John

Thats a rip-off.  Copperdeck is like 7 years old.

What does age have to do with it?

It should be stopped but how? You found one that will be reported and perhaps removed from there too. But there will be many more such listings.

Correct Grand-Uncle Jafo...

Is there any place where such rips can be reported?

We didn't get to our destination because we lacked intensity. We are aware of the internet situations but at personal level, we didn't do anything to stop these. Perhaps we lacked incentives or motivations or didn't care for others work or the cyber laws and internet need an up-down revival.

[amost] every site has contact details ...not necessarily for 'rips'....but they can be contacted.

Anyone who has issues with what's posted there...or elsewhere needs to chase things up individually....;)

The original artist has been contacted, and he'll pursue it as he sees best. Thanks, Jafo for doing what you did...it was entirely appropriate also.

Unfortunately, some folks take things that don't belong to them and when one sees something like that (like seeing someone damaging another's car in a parking lot...jot down the date, time and license number) leave a note...and you've been a good citizen. It's up to the owner to pursue it further.

I have a number of rip sites bookmarked so that I can keep an eye on them.

Unfortunatly it's a loosing battle with many sites (Russian, Chineese, and Korean sites) >:(

In lack of better contact adresses, I tend to email abuse@domain (so would be [email protected] in this case). Usually the right person gets the mail right away, otherwise you should get a pointer on where to go. In all the reporting I've done on people, the abuse email has never failed (well, I've failed to get anything done about issues, but that's another story).

Mickeko is right....abuse@ can come in handy, though the first course of action should be at a more informal level.  Most people are reasonable, only some are not.

Most times a site will deal with offending works....the only time that falls down is when it is the 'perpetrator's' own site...and he thumbs his nose instead.

Then it's time for having his IP remove the site.

Of course.....language barriers adds to the 'fun'....if you can call it that....;)
