Noob in need of help

So I have been reading up on modding and what not and I feel as though this is a very stupid question... but

When I extract the forge tools where do I extract them too? I have looked around and not found anything as to where..

And what do I open to start? I extrated it to several places and tried to open the sins entrenchment developer but got an error saying d3dx9_36.dll was not found.

Any help would be nice =/

well u extract it any where then in the folder u extracted u open somthing up like if i wanted to go into Galaxy Forge i would open the Galaxy Forge Folder and run the .exe or the 1 with the IronGames Icon on it

o yea not sure what to do with the developer i think u just put that into ur main Sins Folder ill try that out right now for u

yea just move the Developer EXE into your sins folder and run it worked for me

the error message might be from the mac os and not windows. the developer.exe and all other sins tools assume a windows os of at least xp or vista and also works in windows7 but have not been released or as far as I know written for any other OS, so you should run it in windows only

well sins can only be played on a PC and thats what I got the tools on... I don't know why it can't make those files work at all.. I thought I had downloaded it to the wrong place but... idk

the reason is that the mac os is NOT windows it is MAC OS, which I think might be similar to unix/linux but I can NOT afford to buy a mac to test the theory, hopefully a moreknowledgable mac person can help

Heh the problem is not the mac believe me. Sins cannot be run on a mac. sins is on my windows.

its an older dell but it has XP

I just do not know why I cannot run the developer =/

have you tried applying the same setting changes (compatibility choices or what ever) to the developer as you did to sins?

i didn't do anything to make sins run. It just ran.

I am scanning my comp to see what might be wrong

well the scan showed nothing so I have no clue why I cannot run it

what is your sins version and the version of you developer?

sins is the latest version and the forge tools is whatever it was last at. I downloaded it yesterday so I would assume the latest

open the sins folder then right mouseclick on the sins exe then left click on the properties then left click on the version tab

do the same for the developer.exe compare the numbers. unless they are the same version you will get errors

Ah harpo

My sins is 1.0.2.0

and my developer is 1.0.0.0

any idea on how to fix that?

I see from the versions that you have a VERY OLD sins ie 1.02 and the only forge tools that I have is 1.1 and 1.15 sins versions, but a quick google did not find any forge tools for 1.02 sins unless they are the ENTRENCHMENT versions which the latest is sins entrenchment version 1.0.2.0 and the entrenchment developer is v 1.0.1.0

no I do not have any idea how to solve this issue unless you update your sins with either stardock central which gets you to sins 1.0.50 or impulse which will bring you up to 1.1.5.0 sins/entrenchment 1.0.2.0.

sorry
