I have created a txt version of the entity files for entrenchment 1.02 by copying the entrenchment gameinfo folder to a new folder, then copying in convertdata_entrenchment.exe  and createing a batch file with the following text in it

for %%a in (*.entity) do ConvertData_Entrenchment entity %%a %%a txt

then opening a command prompt and cd-ing to the new folder and running the batch

for base sins 1.16 then the same steps with the sins gameinfo folder  and convertdata_originalsins.exe and the following text in a batch file

for %%a in (*.entity) do ConvertData_OriginalSins entity %%a %%a txt

note that the batches use an UNRENAMED convertdataso that there is minimum confusion as to which is being converted

hope this helps

a quick & dirty trick to get the batch to run is right mouse click on the batch file then click on properties then click on compatibility tab and put a tick in the tickbox run this program in compatibility mode for and windows 95 in the pulldown list then click ok and double click on the batch

this has worked for me on winxp 32bit and 'should' work in vista win7, but have not tested

I pasted the text into a batch file then changed ther compatibility properties then ran it

ltattack,

I am thinking about writing a program that can create a set of reference data for any version of sins and difference data for any mod (excluding picture, targa, dds, texanim, any files in bin and of course sound) the difference would be for any changed files from original and the lines that have changed for more automated updateing of mods, but I know it will be a MAJOR programming project that could take months to create. the first stage of the program would be able to generate the reference files for any version of sins or expansion to sins that might be released the second stage would be the getting differences between  the reference data on the sins versions, the third stage would be creating the mod's difference data from the sins of that version the fourth stage would be able to update a mod based on the mod difference and sins version difference data.

I am not sure that I would be able to succeed on the creation of this HUGE project as it would require my learning almost all about modding sins so that I could write the program

Wow harpo - if you could pull that off you would be BOMB.

EDIT: PS. Thanks for the converted download. I never could figure out the convertdata exe.

the batch in the file is what I used after seting the batch's compatibility setting to win95 I then doubleclicked on the batch and convertdata did the rest.

the thing AGAINST the project is that I would not be able to play sins while writing it as it would be sucking at least 100% of my available time while writing and debugging it including the time spent earning income to pay bills.

darn it, has anyone noticed that they haven't updated the developer version of the both versions, I am using the original sins developer and the galaxies won't show and if I use entrenchment, well it just crash, so WHEN WILL THE DEVELOPER VERSION OF THIS GAME BE RELEASED!!!
