I'm not going to bash Hyperdesk because I don't have any experience with it. It doesn't seem like something one could compare with Windowblinds, but more like something to compare to MyColors. From their website, I only see about a half dozen themes, all of them fairly masculine.
As for the Star Trek theme...it just seems to be Windows 7 with a few embellishments. I'm not a fan of that flat taskbar (in one of my other posts, I referred to the Windows 7 taskbar as "a piece of Scotch tape at the bottom of my monitor" -- in the case of Star Trek theme, and the Subspace Vista theme, it's a piece of black electrical tape). It's just not my cup of tea. I'm sure it's a fantastic theme, if you like that sort of thing.
I, too, use my computer all day long, (working 10 hours a day), and I think animated start menus are a fantastic bit of glitz in my otherwise mundane work day. With the use of Object Dock, I don't use the start menu that much anyway, since the bulk of my most-used programs are just one mouse click away, as opposed to two mouse clicks, and since I get paid on production, the less mouse clicks I use, the more money I make, (a good deal of what I use to be productive is hotkeyed, too, since I'm not making any money when my hands leave the keyboard).
So, there's my worthless 2-cents on the topic. Obviously, I'm a Stardock junkie, and Windowblinds is my drug-of-choice. Why buy crack, when I can have all the pure, high-grade cocaine I want, and can produce myself with Windowblinds?
....that comment about the shark clocks....I'm going to be chuckling about that all day!
