WIP: Gemstone Fever - (or how I go on after my harddrive toast)

WIP: Gemstone Fever - (or how I go on after my harddrive toast)

Here's my new project, called gemstone fever... Well, it's the working title, when I'm done I may change it to something more appropriate, but then again, I may not....

I decided to start out with taskbar this time... And came up with this:

I have a feeling I'll run into huge trouble trying to make this happen... But time will tell... :)

It looks really good, and oh god i hate these teasers, i am impatient to begin with, and then get teased LOL, cant wait until its completed, looking very forward to it, in fact i will be showcased on the show "Intervention" to help cope with my addiction to skinning and windowblinds in general, maybe the DOC can help me out

Thanks. :D

It's great motivation to get on with this. I've had some personal business to handle, so I haven't really been able to work on this for the last few days, but I will get back to it in a few days.

I can't figure out how to make an animation on the start button that runs on mouseover and then stops on the last frame though... I can't make sense out of the animation controls... Haven't had that much time to fiddle around though :P

Ok, I need some help figuring this stuff out... Where do I adjust the height/width of stuff??

Here's the issue:

I want this;

And I get this;

It's getting on my nerves. :P

If your painting margins are set too big (bigger than your actual image) it will cut off the image like that.

If your image is 20px high and you have the top margin set to 10px and the bottom margin set to 12px...the total is larger than 20px, and it will cut your image off.

Check that first....

best way to figure ur own stuff out.. is figuring out someone elses :)

painting margins don't do anything at all to fix my problem.. For some reason it draws the titlebar thinner than my image.....

I decided to try do something with this skin again... And I got some of the bugs fixed, but where the heck do I sort out the icon problem shown on this picture:

*mumble*

Skinstudio is such an annoying piece of software to work with. Stardock needs a professional UI designer to give it a major overhaul.

This is looking good mick!

For the titlebar buttons in SKS 6:  Edit titlebar buttons and window frames > edit per pixel buttons > standard buttons > system icon (for this button) > position

All of your titlebar buttons are adjusted here.

Good luck!

mick...dunno if this is relevant....but it sorta looks a little bit like maybe your problem might be related?

I'm not a skinner, so I really don't know. Take a look, anyway. If not, I'll send my arm to Sweden and you can take a couple of shots at it.

From your image i think you must enlarge the caption because the system icon is too much big for that text background ;-)

mick, in case I am confusing you, your sys icon, and your title bar buttons can be positioned to align with your titlebar.  That is done by going to the area I told you about above.  Once there, you can adjust both the vertical and horizantal alignment.

I found it. Thanks!

Now just to find everything else that needs an overhaul. :)

Yeah, and I find it very annoying... I'll leave it as is for the time being though and start working on getting the buttons in order. :)

Don't bother. It wouldn't do me much good anyway. :P

You can just make them go away....

In SKS6 do this:

For UIS2 frames: Edit Titlebars and Windowframes / Edit UIS2 Frames / Titlebar Buttons / ...Under the Buttons tab scroll to the bottom of the list and select the System Icon. Then press the delete button on the right.

For Per Pixel Frames: Edit Titlebar and Windowframes / Edit Per Pixel Buttons / Standard Buttons / System Icon...under the Extras tab. Set the Transparency to 0 for both options.

Hmmm... I'll try and see how I like that idea. :P

For the system icon, I find it better to get rid of it.  In UIS2 frames, you can delete it.  In per pixel, I find you can't delete it, but you can set the horizantal alighnment to something like -40...so that it is entirely off the window frame.  You may need to go further than -40...a couple of times, I had to go to -60 to get the dumb thing to disappear!
