Which laptop ram(memory) to buy?

Frendz

I came with one more question for u. i have compaq presario C301TU laptop, which i bought 18 months ago. i hav upgraded its memory from 256mb to 2x512mb after one month of purchase. again i want to replace them with 2x1024mb(max supported).

The problem is that both my 512mb(and also 256 mb) were DDR2-533  while the 1024mb is DDR2-667. i dont get a 1024 DDR2-533 aat local shop. can i buy DDR2-667. my fear is that it was DDR2-533 first. should it cause a problem if i insert DDR2-667?

the following say i can do the replacements.

http://shop.crucial.com/1/4/19206-hp-compaq-presario-c301tu-laptop-notebook-memory-module.html

please advise which brand is better.

kingston, samsung, transcend

I prefer kingston.

Thank u.

Your laptop will probably just run the ram at a lower speed than what they can do. So yes you can.

The numbers after the DDR2 is just what guranteed factory speed they are rated for.

Only problem with going with faster RAM is they will have a higher deafult volt (that is when you go up to much higher speeds like 1066+ those sticks often want more juice). But 533 to 667 will not have this problem as they are close in speeds.

Kingston is often stable at original speeds. Pretty much all RAM is ok if you run it at stock speeds its only when you want to push them that the quality becomes a problem ;)

By brands, I have always prefered Crucial and Corsair for stability and longevity.
