Let me get this straight.

Let me get this straight.

The mods are banning people, for life none the less, when this game is in dire need of online players.

The player "Sins 101" "Ignorethisbitch" or whatever his name is, had some lulz with some people on ICO. Those same people come and bitch here in the forums and he gets the hammer!. I mean, why don't you all whiners grow a pair and suck it up or, at least use the damm /ignore command. Its not that hard.

He's been banned. His account was removed and his IP tracked. We'll permanently block it when we reset the server for the next patch. If anyone else does this, please report to [email protected] and we'll ban them as well.

We also added some other surprises for them that I'm sure they won't find so funny.

It seems that he could not even appeal.

As if that was not outrageous enough we are talking about a game that after a year of its release is buggy to say the least. How many games did he ruin 2, 3,   5 or 6 may be?. What about all of HIS ONLINE GAMES ruined by minidumps, sync problems, bugs, disconnects, random ICO downtime? What about  the ones he DIDN'T EVEN GET TO PLAY due to a large portion of players inability to host?.

What about his ruined games?

Who should we ban?

What about the $30-$49 he paid for his game key?

A week or two ban period would be punishment enough, but...

"His account was removed and his IP tracked. We'll pertmanently block it when we reset the server for the next patch..."

                         - Stardock

What really pisses me off is the fact that online play would be a lot more enjoyable if Stardock allocated more resources to actually fix the game. Online play is not going to be fixed by banning the random troll.

I'm asking Stardock to please lift his ban or at least make it less severe. After all, he paid money for his game.

@ Snoop: You sure you aren't Sins101?

I was wondering that myself and was going to post it today. Queue conspiracy theory!!! :)

If we don't see Snoop we will know. I hope it wasn't though. I'd much prefer to think it was an unknown in the community then a known member....

Finally! I had a VERY unpleasent experience with Sins 101. I think he was actually spamming my game when he got banned. I applaud you Ironclad, you guys are AMAZING!

I was not aware that he was pirating, the mods can tell u anything so take it with a grain of salt. From what I read on the forums it seems that all he did was spam for the lulz. If he found a way to get game keys then a person with that much skill would at least spoog his IP adress for each one. If he was some dude with a single paid CD key, 2 weeks ban should be enough. Now if what the mods say its true then I aprove of him permaban.

The mods speaking here made the game.

And the motive for lying would be?

Lulz of course. Isn't it obvious!!! :D

This is the stuff pure win is made out of.  I've done my share of light trolling for the lulz, but there's a clear line between "Sarcastic dick"  and "Inexcusable asshole".

I applaude the Devs convictions and like someone else said, the whole "The Customer is always right, and the provider is always responsible" mentality is laughable in the best case scenarios.  It's refreshing to see someone who can really point out the obvious and take a stand against assanine behavior.  I can say, at least in my case (Which I do hope isn't unique) that the Lax DRM policy sold me on the game.  I played this first at a LAN gathering and bought a copy within the next 12hours.

I support Blair from Ironclad and everything he said.

Spammers and trolls should not be tolerated.

There was some guy in England who just got tried for microwaving a cat.  I think he was just doing it for lulz, don't know why the judge was so harsh on him.

When I used to play Counter-Strike and had a server behavior such as cursing, insults and spamming got you warnings. How many warning depended on the serveraty/repetition of the offences but the limit was 3. I would ban quite a few jerk heads for day i think my average was 5. But in the end my clan'S server was always full of fun people, we really had a great time playing and free slots never stayed free for long. Why because it was a good place to come and play. Blair did the same here and AMEN to that. I have no patience for jerks and so does he.

*Cheers Blair on* Glad to see there are companies (or at least one) that do/does care about their customers and not just about how to maximize profits. Very happy to see there are still people around who are willing to do the right thing.

Also totally love you guys for the lax DRM, like I love far cry 2 but... something like a 4 install limit... *sigh* 'nuff said

*quietly goes back to playing sins, wondering why other game devs hate their customers*

They don't hate their customers, they just love their profits more :)

Money the root of all evil, DRM the plague they unleashed on all of us with their greed.

We should make a national/international holiday to celebrate IC freeing us from the tyrannical clutches of the DRM happy companies.

Lol, sorry for kinda getting off topic.

Maybe he got frustraded for what he thought was a paid beta, he thought he got bend over by the developers at Ironclad and took his revenge.

Or maybe he was indeed a pirate with stolen keys in witch case he should be treated as such. Idiots like that increase the cost of my gaming.

Ooookay, which led to his banning.  Why did we need to create a post regarding this again?

Acting like a giant flaming douche has consequences, film at 11.

Because someone who didnt know the whole story started this attaking Ironclad/Stardock of miss treatign a client.

Yes EadTaes, I have not singned up to ICO in the past week so all the perspective I got was from the forums. EadTaes I have never atacked Ironclad/Stardock I am making an argument from what would be his point of view. Some people take it for what it is, others assume that the slightlest implied observation regarding the the issues with the game is a full blown tirade agaisnt the company and or game. It is not an attack but if you believe it to be, you ultimately will believe whatever you want and I will not try to change that notion anymore.

bad ppl ruin good games sins being one of them. though i havent played online (though i plan to soon at least to try it) i can say from playing other online games that spammers and childish ppl ruin the fun. and im glad that the ones in charge of sins arent like the admins of some other games *cough* battlefield 2142 *cough*.

on another note i like the companies involved with this game as they take the advice of there customers unlike EA for example, and for that they make a better product. just my 2 cents and to end on an up note

SnoopDaggo what point are you trying to make here? Is it that we should have a larger community even if it is infested with idiots? This guy deserved a ban and no appeal i mean this guy was hell bent to spam peoples servers one of them being mine. I mean the server was full he said he would spam if we didn't let him in obviously we didn't do anything of the sort and he started spamming, we ignored him so he created about 5 new names in that time im not sure but im not going to spend the whole game using the ignore command because i was "whining". I seriously don't care whether he paid money for the game if all he was going to do was spam then i hope that he paid alot of money for it. "What about his ruined games" He never had a game ot begin with if your definition of game is lets go spam and screw other peoples games up i guess he was having a great time playing his "game". And about his ruined games from minidumps and such so what? i really don't give a damn i couldn't log into ICO for 2 weeks due to a sync error does tha give a excuse to start raging as soon as i get back on? NO! I've suffered from my share of mindumps and errors as much as the next guy but do we go spamming when that happens? No we don't. And those who do deserve to be banned. And this wasn't just a guy who did it once or twice and stopped this guy had been doing it for MONTHS and had NO GAMES completed on any of his accounts. Im am trying to understand where your coming from to defend this person of all people but ireally can't understand why.

Well end of rant needed to vent some anger as well lol.

I agree. Stardock and Ironclad have not fixed online nor made an attempt to do so. I'm sorry but when they ban people for life from online play its rediculous. So what if he spammed the main menu screan. From what I can see no one uses it anyway. I never see people talking on there because guess what... NO ONE GETS ONLINE ANYMORE!!! Reason why they dont get online is all the errors, minidumps in paticular. Me and a buddy of mine have just started to get the online games to work, but we still have minidump errors and dysnc and have to load autosaves on long games all the time to keep it insync. We love the game but yet again online support is non existant. These crys will fall on deaf ears im sure. With so many of you on these forums being the few people that don't have issues (which makes up the hardcore fan base for online of 100-300 ppl or so) dont even know what I'm talking about when I say this stuff. This guy is right. Banning people is dumb. They can find ways around it if they are some kind of hacker, and if there just a common joe who spammed one time and got banned. Well then u just lost ANOTHER PLAYER to the already patheticly small online community. Bottom line sins is a great game made by a company that had no idea how to capitalize on its popularity. They were not prepared for online fights. They were not prepared for tech support on the diff systems this game can be played on. They were not prepared for the massive numbers of ingame errors that developed over time. And today they still havnt caught up with the demand. Now they are too late. Most players will stop useing ICO and start useing 3rd party online multi servers that can actually handle the game. Me and my friend are probably going to do so next. Still the point being, WE SHOULDNT EVEN HAVE TO DO THAT! Sins is a tragic example of a great game that you just can't have fun with.

So thats my rant, go ahead and rip up on me if you feel like I'm being to harsh but just remeber I spent my 30 bucks on this game just like everyone else.

P.S I didnt spell check :typo: so dont get onto me about spelling.
