Scorched Earth for Xbox Live Arcade?

Well, Scorched Earth was pretty much the first PC game I ever played, and boy did I love it. Buying weapons, nuking the crap out of other tanks, it was just plain fun (go MIRV!).

So I was checking out GameTrailers.com this morning, and guess what I found? Apparently, there is a Scorched Earth-type game on XBLA!

Check out the gameplay: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/45823.html

Is this awesome or what? My only peeve is that the tanks can move :( I need to try it. It'd be the first Live Arcade game I buy if I like it.

The birth of the wonderful Worms series, hope it comes to PSN :)

You know, I never did play Worms! Sunk so many hours into Scorched Earth, though.. pissed off my dad plenty of times, he kept losing.

Haha, some of the weapons were so overpowered but what a great fun game!  I remember the terrain deformation consisted of holes in the terrain from explosions and then the pixels going downwards like sand so you ended up with this spiky pixel terrain as the game went on.  I played Worms for a hell of a lot more than I ever played Scorched Earth though.

Pick yourself up a copy of Worms Armageddon, you owe it to yourself! ;)

There's nothing I loved more in SE than wind. You save up all your money for that MIRV or a nuke, and end up blowing yourself up because your shot got blown back to you! Shooting the cliff side in directly in front of you with a nuke was great fun, too.

Technology has come a long way since the original... I've played that kind of game on my calculator. Still fun, too.

I also have to agree with Haree. Find a copy of Worms Armageddon.

Holy Hand Grenade had nothing on the Baseball Bat.  Or the Prod....off the cliff into the water.  I prefer the insult to injury kills.

Kamikaze was always a fun move to pull.

Yeah, and this was supposed to be about the XBLA game :P

Yeah...sorry.  My fav in SE was Napalm.  Those Heavy Deflecting sheilds didn't hold up well vs a pool of Napalm on top of them.

Oh I don't mind derailing, I just have no experience with Worms Armageddon to pitch in :(

But as far as shields went, the diggers were great too. Shields don't do anything for falling!

That's what the parachutes were for though.  Use enough diggers, you'll widdle away their stock in 'chutes though.

Sold my Xbox long time ago and never going back.

I thought you meant THE scorched earth that I played as a kid, rather than a scorched earth or worms clone.

tanks could move in scorched earch, you just needed gas

I don't remember tanks moving in the original? :(
