Entrenchment Tweak Wish List

First of all.... love it. I love the new features, especially considering the price.

However, there are some minor tweaks that I would ask the devs to take a look at.

  • In the old version of Sins, when in a Hangar or carrier, and you were selecting fighters or bombers, you got a very solid noise pop out when you hit the Q or W keys. I would quickly hit QW and hear two separate noises indicating that two selections had been made. Now, the noise for the first selection gets overridden by the second noise, so that I have to go back and visually check to see whether the selections went through. I haven't changed my sound settings, so I think it's how Sins handles the sounds.
  • When you build hangars around a planet, you can go to the squadron screen and select bombers or fighters before the hangar had been completed. Even before the darn thing had been started. I would like to see this feature applied to star bases. As it stands now, if you add hangars on, you have wait until the upgrade is complete before you can even enter the squadron selection screen. Now you basically have to babysit the thing until the upgrade is through.
  • As soon as a starbase starts building, I would like the starbase upgrade option to become active, so that you can go in ans queue up your upgrade selections. Otherwise, you have to babysit the station until it's complete, then go in and make your upgrade selections (and if you add on hangars, you have to come back even later to choose your squadrons).
  • When you've zoomed all the way out and you click on a grav well that contains frigate or cap factories, you have buttons that immediately take you into the ship building queue. However, if you upgrade a TEC starbase with shipyards, you have to select the grav well, then the base, then the ship queues. If a grav well has a starbase with the ship factory upgrade, I would like to see the ship building buttons available once you select the grav well. (can't recall if Vasaari have ship building option, and haven't played Advent yet).

That's it. Would love to hear others' thoughts on these.

I largely agree with what you saying.

Yep, totally agree with everything.

The fourth one is implemented already and will be available in beta 3. I'll put the other three on the list. Thanks :)

I was kind of hoping that they would add one higher tier of game speed. Oh, I also have a question about the +/- buttons in for single player. It is supposed to be able to speed up/slow down the game. How fast can you go doing that? I was guessing that if your game speed is already on fastest, that it won't go any faster.

The + and - keys are seperate from the before game settings. Tey simply change the rate at which the game updates. Goes: 1X, 2X, 4X, 6X, 8X.

Awesome suggestions, glad they're being implemented

Great suggestions, I have had similar thoughts.

No. Thank YOU for listening and responding. I played Command and Conquer 3 for awhile, and spent some time in the forums there and it was "the devs @#%^&! this", and "the devs @#@$!! that" and "the devs are ^&^#*&!'s." Got tired of reading it. It's very refreshing to see devs (if indeed you ARE the real Blair Fraser) talking to the people that play their games.

And while I'm at it, I've got two more suggestion for a tweaks.

  • 99.9% of the time I pick the same configuration for my hangars -- 1 fighter and 1 bomber if I'm TEC/Vas, and 1 fighter 2 bomber if I'm Advent. I would love to have the option to set a default configuration for hangars so that I can build and forget. I suppose you could extend the same option to carriers as well.
  • When the Vasari starbase has been upgraded with the Phase Node Stabilizer ability, it would be nice to have that button added to the UI when you click on that grav well from the galaxy view of the map. Otherwise you have to dig down and turn it on.

Thanks again!

He is; and if you're nice you might even run into him on the IRC channel sometimes!  (I don't IRC much -- just don't care for it -- but the devs / SD personell / others tend to ham aorund in there a lot)

Hi guys,
Thanks for implementing this, but I'm wondering if it could be pushed a little further. I'm playing Advent now, so not certain whether this works the same way with other two. As soon as the starbase starts constructing, you can now choose the first two squadron slots before the base finishes building. However, once the base is done and you select the hangar bay upgrades, you have to wait until the upgrades are purchased before you can select your squads. It would be nice to be able to make the upgrades and then choose the squadrons, and then leave the thing alone.

Thanks for listening!

Would it also be possible to make the upgrades available as soon as the base starts to build? Everywhere else in the game you can access subsequent structures, units and techs as soon as the prerequisites are queued.

Could you add a button to divide fleet in two fleets with equal numbers of ships of every type? Dividing fleets for example into one attacking and one defending fleet is generally pain in the ass. I think this could be automatically done with some clever algorithm. Also, I would like to see something like fleet manager in Galactic Civilisations.

..oh, and ability to name a fleet would be truly orgasmic...

..and i have noticed that strikecraft can fly straight through a star.. ..is it a bug or a feature?

Oh my god, you just have two excellent ideas ! The first one is my best wish since i have been attacked in two fronts in Sins months ago !

Karma is on the way and if these ideas becomes reality, i swear i will build a statue in your glory !

How about going a step further and making the list of upgrades available on the constructor ship? Go here and build a base with this configuration?

However, there are some minor tweaks that I would ask the devs to take a look at....

  • detail
  • Totally Agreed, particularly important for Vasari whose starbases rarely get built in 'safe' spots (as in, every seconds of idleness in their build queue may cost you dearly and you ARE usually fighting someone that very moment).
  • Totally Agreed, as above
  • good

I can't believe it. I'd actually like for all the ideas here thrown around up to this point to get implemented :P

Everything I didn't like about starbase and hangar/carrier upgrades mentioned in one thread. Awesome. :D

I almost forgot: why do starsystems look like galaxies? I know that most people dont know the difference, but space game developers ought to know. Maybe u should consult an astronomer?

What do you mean, shotman?

Star systems look like discs more often than galaxies actually, if that's what you mean.

there is too much nebulae i think...

Like where?
You mean plasma storms/magnetic clouds? Or the background artwork?

Either way, without them the game wouldn't be so beautiful. Even if they shouldn't really be there. It would be plain dull.

no i like plasma/magnetic clouds.. i mean, when you zoom out of a starsystem like this. Those look like two galaxies, dont they?

sins galaxies
