I want an AI which actually attacks me!

Please?

I try, try so hard!

What i notice when playing some skirmishes, is that the AI does not attack me.

And if they do, its a tiny outskirt asteroid which i couldn't care about.

I always end up, bringing the fight to them.


I make them supper aggressive, i go against 3 AI, one a Research, an aggresser and the other one.

There main fleet sticks together and just jumps from planet to planet that they own.

Tad boring.


I tested my theory out btw, i cornered a AI around a planet, they had no where to jump.

3 Hours went by, not one fighting ship came to a planet which surrounded it, even though i sent them TONES of resources.

Can anyone tell me a way to make them tougher? and actually try and capture my Home world.

Have you actually tried playing with Unfair AIs? Especially in an FFA? They can be quite brutal. :)

Yep.

Every time my big fleet, which does take me a while to build up lands on a planet, boom, they run.

How boring is that? Its just me chasing.

 

Seriously want it changed so when you put them aggresive, they actually come to you.

Yes AI runs. That's known. Blair said that they changed it a bit for Entrenchment so AI has more "balls."  If you ever want to see something funny, just make a game with lot of AI's, surrender and select Keep Playing, then turn up the speed to 8x. You will see the AI retreating over and over. A game between 2 teams of AI can literly take hours at 8x speed.

I have entrenchment and i dont notice a difference :(

 

I actually resort to saving, loading the game and choosing to play as the computer.

 

Send all ships to one location, and hope for a big fight :(

^^^I fell your pain man. Its sad when I have my fleet outnumbered 2:1 but can still completely destroy the others fleet, and we're the same faction!!

Well, I doubt we will have any sort of decent AI by the end of this decade and years to come. And remember that AI, well all AI are generally.... stupid ^_^, because they are man-made, scripted and what not. Basically, there are a few things to know about SoaSE AIs:

1. They pretty much try to avoid conflict unless forced upon (e.g. they evade epic space battles)

2. Love attacking undefended colonies

3. They respect numbers (e.g. You could have 5 kodiak cruisers attacking an AI with 12 disciples. Ai will attack, ultimately losing the battle)

-LOL @ AI running because of base defences with his 4 cap ships. xD

4. They have a goal, one goal, to eliminate competition (meaning you) They will pretty much team up on you if they have to, especially in a ffa. I mean, it is their scripting.

5. Don't play with AI unless you don't have a choice. Play multiplayer games with REAL ppl, it allows more freewill and strategy. AI just follow a specific script (e.g. they will most indefinately never rush and just do the standard every game strategy they always use- colonize and defend allllllll game)

Also, if you remember Blizzard RTSs those bots, to a newbie, can be ridiculously hard

But TBH, I think thats ALL you have to consider about SoaSE's AI. I definately need to try the 1v9 AI game =P.

Well if you want a real challenge try this:

Go into your gameplay.constants entity file in the Gameinfo folder.  Scroll down untill you see the AI values for Buildship, BuildModuletactical, BuildModuleresearch etc....  Change the BuildShip value to like 20 and reduce the other values a bit to compensate for the increase.  If you want them to not worry at all about defence then set BuildModuleTactical to zero, the AI will dump most of it's efforts into construcitng nothing but fleets.  You have to play around with the setting a little to get what you want out of the game but I gaurantee that if you use the Aggressive AI with the new values and play on unfair you will have a fight on your hands!  They will do nothing but attack you as soon as their next wave of ships are constructed.  Also play with the AI retreat threshold value, this inconjuction with the other changes make the AI relentless.  Hope this helps.
