[Network] "Could not connect to the facilitator."

I have been unable to either join or host a game and get people to join with the latest version. Every time, I get the message "Could not connect to the facilitator." while trying to connect or in the game lobby.

I have no software firewall running. I am, however, behind a router : SpeedTouch 716 v5.

I've something similar.

I can host a game without any problems and have people connect to it.

since the latest patch i get the same error msg. But before the patch, i would just wait hoping i could connect.

Go to Start->Run (or Search if you're on Vista) and type in cmd.

In the dialog box, type ping cvp1.stardock.com

If it's successful, it's something like this:

Pinging cvp1.stardock.com [66.28.242.200] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 66.28.242.200: bytes=32 time=32ms TTL=116

Ping statistics for 66.28.242.200:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 26ms, Maximum = 32ms, Average = 28ms

Please paste the results here.

The NAT facilitator uses UDP port 6000 so make sure that it's not being blocked.

Another you could do is check and make sure you have your ports on the router open.  And, not just open, but if you want to host (Possibly join, not sure yet) you'll need to make sure you are forwarding the correct ports to your particular computer from the router.

I am having the same problem. I use a WRT54GL and I can ping cvp1.stardock.com just fine. Everytime I try to join a custom game it tries to connect and then at some point I get the "Could not connect to the NAT facilitator." message.

I have defined the port range for Demigod (6200 - 6250), forwarded this port range to my computer and I also forwarded Port 6073, as described here: http://themonk.ca/Monk/Networking_and_DEMIGOD.pdf
