The story goes like this:

1. I've bought SOASE

2. I registered on the forum

3. My friend asked me if I can borrow him the game to install it

4. I've found out that the game can be updated through Impulse

5. Asked my friend to give me the cd key that was on the cd box to update it

6. He gave it to me, but it seems like there are 5 characters missing

7.Posted a ticket to Stardock for the serial key problem

8. They wanted pictures of the box & the serial

9. My friend took a shot of the cd box & the serial & sent them to me

10. I've sent them to Stardock

11. And now I am waiting for a reply from Stardock.

12.Now here is the real fun. How can I be registered on the forum with a weird serial?

13. And finally: should I sue the game shop for selling a damaged and probably used serial number (I'm guessing they wipe out the last 5 characters) if Stardock can't solve the problem with the serial?

I'm guessing this will end up bad for me because the last note ended up on the number 13 >_>

But, who am I kidding? My sister is a lawyer!!!!!!!  }:)

Are you saying you are using 1 game for 2 people? You are mistaken then, I think it's you that can be sued.  All I will tell you is that my serial has 25 characters.

Only I am registered to the forum, my friend is not. Also, he deleted the game after 3 days... >_>

He said it's not something special. He's a f**kin' n00b, I admit.

Only part that he's playing here is that he has MY game at his house... I don't know what now..

Online - no

Doesn't matter, he uninstalled the game. I guess I should buy another SOASE.

But how is that possible? The registration on the forum requires a serial key... :omg:

It doesn't, actually :P You can create an account without having any keys registered. But if it was ever registered, you can go to http://support.stardock.com and put in your email, it will send you a list of your registrations. Obviously if it's never been then there won't be anything in it. :)

But I remember for some reason when I was registering on the forum I needed a serial key, I'm sure it was for some kind of registration, even though I don't  rermember  why.

Maybe, after all, I've done that on some other forum, I don't know.

So, the best thing to do now is to buy another serial key, right?

Well no, if you think that you registered go to the link above and get your registrations emailed to you. But then I'd wait for support to get back to you before buying another key :)

Did you tell them that you got an incomplete key, by the way? I'm thinking it'll be much easier if you can give them most of the key so they give you the rest, than to try to get a new key. :P

You could also try sending Seabass a forum PM with a link to this thread - support's probably a little backed up after their holiday break, but he might be able to squeeze it in 'cause he's awesome that way. :P
