This torpedo is a NIGHTMARE!

Simple.

How do I get Anti-Matter, Quantum, and Positronic Torpedos to show up in the research tree in TA?

I've added them in to all the civ trees, changed Nightmare Torpedo's prerequisite to Positronic Torp II (in the default tree), verified that everything else has the correct prereq (in the default tree), and I still can't get anything other than Nightmare Torpedo to show up beyond Photon Torpedo III.  I can't even get Black Hole Eruptor to show up in place of Nightmare Torpedo.

Just delete the Nightmare torpedo from your tech tree, and remember that mods only show up when you start a new game, unless you change the XMLs outside of the modfolder, which I don't recommend.

Found my mistake, actually.

Now this is the only thing stopping me:

Looks like an XML formatting problem. Copy and paste you mods into a new tech tree file and use that one, and check for typos.

Found it.  All it took was being awake.  :)

I had referenced "Particle Beams", "Particle Beams II", "Particle Beams III", in the civ trees, because that's how I remember every other weapon in the history of forever being referenced, but they're ParticleBeams, ParticleBeams2, ParticleBeams3 in the default tree.

*sigh*

Thank you, though.

Gosh, that brings back memory... fixing a tech tree is quite the ride -- just imagine how complex a whole bunch of twelves can be.

Sure was fun to fix a quicky 'customized' DA research context for X-Worlds but i really dunno how i will ever manage what must be done to do a similar (or variable enough to call them reasonably stable!) task for CoSH in TA.

I sooooo wish SD staff could provide us with a truly compatible Tech Editor for DA structural elements, serious dissapointment when i realized THAT the editing powerhouse tool(s) were all made for TA only.

Typos are much harder to detect in a "notepad style" workflow than in a dedicated interface.

I've been using XML Marker, actually.  Not quite Notepad-esque.

As i have at times for specific editing situations... but might as well add EditPlus to that toolbox, since the 'programmer' feel is more familiar to me -- indenting is a trick, typos are a simple mind flick which can grind any steady compilation of mods to an halt for days on end, until true human intelligence or coding instinct kicks in. }:)
