A new toy...

Having used Paintshop Pro 7 for as long as I can remember, I decided as prices are so cheap at the moment I'd have a go at Paintshop Pro Photo X2. I'm glad I did, it has some interesting features for the photographer.

Here's an image I've been messing around with. Typical back-lit shot on a spring day: you have either the sky burned out to get the foreground, or, the foreground dark to get the sky. Photographically speaking, not a lot going for it. This is at +1 stop compared to the original.

So onto PSP X2... What I did here was create 5 images in my Nikon Capture NX software to cover half stop ranges from -0.5 stop to +1.5 stop, then combined them using the HDR (High Dynamic Range) merge feature in PSP X2

Quite a transformation!

Providing the highlights are not burned out, my Nikon D-300 covers -2 to +2 stops. All the detail is there, it just needs coaxing out.

PSP X2 only arrived today, but already I've the feeling it's the best bit of software I've bought.

Very impressive, indeed. (Spock: "Fascinating" is a word I use for the unexpected. "Interesting" shall suffice here.)

Enjoy!

Great hardware as well, Fuzzy! Hope you got a good price on that as well. Looking forward to some spiffy HDR's.

For sometime I've felt WC might have placed a bit more emphasis on the place of photography in customization.

I use PSP X and couldn't do without it. Although I don't do photos, It helps me do graphics for my DX themes. I use PSP X and Photoshop CS3.

Super nice Fuzzy.  Almost makes me wish I was still into photography.  Almost...   :D

The difference is awesome.  A fairly bland pic turned into a landscape with some drama.

I've been using PSPX2 ever since it came out. Try playing with the "Digital camera noise removal" in the adjust tab. Actually everything in the adjust tab is great for photographs.
